It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Joshua Terry Johnson, a bright and spirited soul, at the tender age of 14. Joshua left this world as a result of a tragic accident on November 6, 2023, at Gillette Children’s Hospital in St. Paul. Born on Aug. 18, 2009, he was the cherished son of Terry Johnson and Tina Passe.

Joshua, affectionately known as Josh, was a student at Ellsworth Middle School where he engaged wholeheartedly in various sports, clubs, and activities. He was a vibrant and outgoing young man, always ready to embrace new adventures, even if they were not the brightest of ideas. Josh had a passion for sports, actively participating in baseball, football, and wrestling. His infectious laughter and friendly nature made him a beloved friend to many.

Beyond his athletic pursuits, Josh had a heart as vast as the horizon. He never looked down upon anyone and sought out those who needed a friend, offering his support and companionship. An avid gamer, Josh found serenity in playing video games, a pastime that brought him joy and relaxation.

Family held a special place in Josh’s heart. Whether hunting, fishing, or enjoying quiet moments watching movies, he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. This past spring, he experienced the thrill of reeling in his first northern on Balsam Lake, creating a lasting memory for himself and those who shared the moment with him. Josh was exceptionally patriotic, with a fierce love for his country and a deep appreciation for the stars and stripes.

Joshua will forever be remembered by his grieving parents, Terry and Tina, along with his brothers Joseph Richardson, Jacob Johnson, and Jeremiah Johnson. He leaves a void in the hearts of his grandparents Sherryl and Dale Bignell, Barb Mclaughlin, Aunt Tina “Pat” Huppert, uncles Chris Hall and Jim Passe, nieces Isabella, Brooklyn, and Ashlyn, and cousins Emily and Miranda. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mildred and Gerald Johnson.

A visitation to honor and remember Josh will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home: 130 N. Grant St. Ellsworth, WI 54011.
