Joyce Rother, 89, was born on August 8, 1936, and completed her life journey on December 12, 2025. She was born in Sioux Falls, SD, grew up in Hastings, MN and moved to Hampton, MN after meeting the love of her life, Richard W. Rother, at a dance. They were married June 29, 1957, raised 3 sons, worked full time, and still made time to go polka dancing. Joyce loved to play cards, garden, quilt, knit and sew and was always helpful to others. She loved to clean and have things organized, even many times putting things away so safely that it was a treasure hunt to find them! Joyce was proud of her grandchildren who met her high expectations of school and work and always rewarded them by making food (especially egg sandwiches, and sweets) for them. This past year, her granddaughter, Alessa helped with her care. Some of Joyce’s favorite times were sitting and talking with Alessa and having Alessa’s dog, Ginger, on her lap. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, Dec 24, 2013. She is survived by her brothers Paul Haviland and David (Diane) Haviland; her brother-in-law Jim (Diane) Rother and Sister-in-law Mary (Elmer) Hupf; children: Thomas Rother (Laurel Jordan), Marvin (Marcia) Rother, David (Dona) Rother and 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Joyce’s presence will be missed, but the memories of her dedication to helping others and wishing for peace and happiness for all of those around her will continue to inspire those who knew her. Currently a Mass for Joyce will be scheduled this spring, with a family burial service on Memorial Day. In lieu of any flowers or gifts, please donate in honor of the Rother Families to St. Mathias Church, Hampton, MN.
