June 22
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash between an SUV and moped at 8:12 p.m. June 22 in the 200 block of West Johnson Street. A 2017 Mazda CX-3, driven by Abbey Rae Markey, 18, River Falls, was traveling west on West Johnson Street and was pulling over to make a U-turn. James Kenneth Rimer, 43, River Falls, was operating a 2007 KYMC Agility moped behind her. As Markey pulled over to the curb, she then pulled back out into traffic to perform the U-turn, and the moped collided with the Mazda. Markey said she did not use her signals and did not see the moped approaching. Markey, who wore a seat belt, had no injuries and no vehicle damage. Rimer was taken to River Falls Area Hospital by personal vehicle with suspected minor injuries. The moped had disabling damage. Markey was cited $98.80 for unlawful U/Y turn midblock.
At 9:16 p.m., a vehicle vs. deer crash was reported on Highway 35 .94 miles north of Highway 65. Josh L. Sanderson, 38, River Falls, was driving a 2016 Toyota Prius. He reported no injuries and wore a seat belt. The Toyota had disabling damage.
June 23
At 10:14 a.m., a woman reported her bike stolen from 135 E. Division St. She said that at 9 a.m. she had parked her blue and yellow Gary Fisher Mountain Bike in front of St. Bridget’s School, Door 3. When she returned at 10 a.m., the bike was gone. The bike, which was not locked up, is valued at $600-$800.
At 3:22 p.m., a resident reported that sometime after 11 p.m. on June 22 and before 1 p.m. June 23, someone had stolen his front license plate and bracket off his vehicle while it was parked on the street in front of 214 S. Fourth St.
At 9:38 p.m., an officer attempted to make contact with Xavier
Jose Rivera, 33, at 235 W. Johnson St. for a St. Croix County warrant for failure to pay child support. The officer called in back-up. When he knocked on the door, Rivera answered and the officer smelled marijuana. He gave officers permission to enter his apartment so he could retrieve clothes before going to jail. Officers observed a grinder with green leafy substance and a pipe with burnt residue. The items were seized. Rivera was taken to St. Croix County Jail without incident.
June 24 Jennifer Lynn Javner, 30, River Falls, was arrested for battery or threat to judge, prosecutor or law enforcement officer; disorderly conduct and battery after police responded at 2:39 a.m. to 320 N. Second St. for an unwanted person. The complainant said Javner kept showing up at the residence and banging on the door. Javner told police that the complainant invites her over, refuses to let her in, then calls the police. The complainant showed police text messages asking Javner to leave, that she was not welcome there. When police told her she was under arrest for disorderly conduct, she backed away and said she was not going with them. She continued to resist police as they tried to handcuff her. As they led her to the squad, she continued to resist and scream. She kicked one officer multiple times.
At 9:17 a.m., a resident at 302 Devin Lane reported a rainbow garden flag stolen from his yard in the last 10 days. It was gone when the resident returned from a 10-day trip. The flag and its stand were valued at $24.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision at 11:18 a.m. at Main Street and Paulson Road between a 2006 Honda Pilot, driven by Susan Xiong, 23, Colfax, and a 1999 GMC Sierra, driven by Richard Duane Nelson, 62, Ellsworth. Xiong, who was attempting to make a left turn onto Paulson Road from Main Street, said she had a green light when Nelson, who was heading southbound on Main, struck her. Nelson said he had a green light and was heading through the intersection when Xiong turned in front of him. A witness said Nelson had the green light. EMS responded and treated Xiong at the scene. Both drivers wore seat belts and both vehicles had disabling damage. Xiong was cited for fail/yield while making left turn.
At 5:07 p.m., a caller told police someone had dumped furniture in her yard at 106 W. Cascade Ave. while she was on vacation. The city had notified her that she needed to move the items or she would be fined. She identified a neighbor who had recently moved out as a suspect.
June 25
At 1:51 a.m., officers were sent to 110 S. Main St. (Nutty Squirrel) for a fight in progress where one person was allegedly armed with a knife. When police arrived, a large group of people was in the middle of Main Street; a man in a blue shirt began running south on Main, then turned west ontoWalnut. A staff member told police the man running away was the culprit. Police caught up with the man near Cascade Avenue and Main Street; he consented to a body search. No weapon was located. A staff member at the bar told police no one at any time had pulled a knife, but that patrons were upset the bar was closing and a fight ensued. She had called police for help in clearing the bar when the fight escalated. The man in the blue shirt allegedly began to threaten staff members, but left when police arrived. The bartender did not want to press charges, but the man was trespassed from the bar.
At 6:22 a.m., a caller reported property damage at 1550 E. Division St. An exterior living room window screen had been bent by an object placed between the bottom of the window and the screen, sometime between 9:30 p.m. June 24 and 6:10 a.m. June 25. A bedroom window screen had been taken two weeks ago. The newly damaged screen was estimated to cost $50.
Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 11:09 a.m. in front of 112 E. Walnut St. between a 2019 International LT tractortrailer, driven by Steven Robert Kuehl, 53, White Bear Lake, Minn., and a parked 2016 Honda Odyssey, owned by Kimberly K. Suhr, River Falls. Kuehl said he was making a left-hand turn into the alleyway off of Walnut Street and the right rear of the trailer struck the Honda, which was legally parked. The semi had no damage, but the Honda had minor damage.
At 3:13 p.m., a woman reported a scam in which someone was threatening to post nude photos of her to the internet. She had been chatting with a man online she met through a video Scrabble game. She eventually sent him nude photos, at which time he threatened to post the photos along with photos of her children unless she paid him $1,000. While speaking with police, the man video-chatted the victim. Police instructed her to block him, reported his email as fraudulent to Google, and gave the woman the Federal Trade Commission website to report the cryptocurrency scam.
At 7:06 p.m., police arrested Donald Evan Rommann, 57, River Falls, at his residence for a failure to appear warrant in Pierce County. He was also cited $250 for operating while revoked (alcohol related). Police saw him driving in town and later found him at 117 Church St., where he cooperated with police.
July 26
At 5:09 a.m., a 2017 Toyota Corolla, driven by Neng Lor, 61, St. Paul, hit a deer on Highway 35 .49 miles north of Highway 65. Lor, who wore a seat belt, had no injuries. The vehicle had minor damage.
Police connected with a complainant at 10:18 a.m. regarding an incident that had occurred at 11:30 p.m. June 25 at 3464 Aberdeen Place. The complainant said he had moved a bike that was blocking his garage door so he could put his vehicle in the garage. The bike’s owner allegedly confronted him, spit on the complainant’s vehicle, punched the garage door and tried to lift it. The man then left on his bike, heading west. When police reached the man and the man’s friend, who is the complainant’s neighbor, the story differed. They said the bike was not blocking any door and did not need to be moved. They denied any physical altercation. All parties were told to stay away from each other. The case is unresolved.
Charges for neglecting a child, possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia were forwarded to the Pierce County District Attorney’s office for Dexter Davon Henderson, 36, River Falls, and Kaitlyn Elizabeth McPherson, 31, River Falls. Police were sent to 2072 Michael Lane at 1:14 p.m. for the smell of marijuana. When police arrived, the marijuana smell was coming from the garage, which was open. When Henderson opened the door, the smell was stronger and he had bloodshot eyes. Three young children were home at the time; Henderson admitted to smoking a half-joint while the kids were asleep. A child services visit and home search on July 2 turned up multiple drug paraphernalia items and marijuana, much of it within reach of children. The case is under review.
At 1:15 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle crash at Main and Division streets between a 2014 Honda Civic, driven by
Kathryn Elizabeth Myers, 20, River Falls, and a 2011 Jeep Liberty, driven by Denise Marie Flaherty, 67, Hammond. Myers was traveling north on Main Street while Flaherty was traveling east on Division Street. Flaherty had a green light and proceeded into the intersection. Myers’ light turned red, but she said she did not see it in time to stop and she proceeded through the intersection, striking Flaherty’s Jeep. Both women wore seat belts and reported no injuries. The Civic had disabling damage, while the Jeep had functional damage. Myers was cited $98.80 for operator violate red traffic light.
At 1:28 p.m., a Family Fresh employee reported finding a dugout (a container to hold marijuana) and a marijuana pipe on the pharmacy floor. Video surveillance revealed the items were dropped by a man in his 40s, accompanied by a dog and two children. The suspect was not immediately identified.
At 9:26 p.m., police were called to Broz Bar (127 S. Main St.) for a bar patron urinating off the back deck. Americo Marcus Lopez, 44, River Falls, was cited for urination/defecation or vomiting in public.
June 28
At 1:20 a.m., officers were sent to Kwik Trip (1238 N. Main St.) for a request to have Robert Earl Gee, 30, River Falls, trespassed from the business. While he wasn’t there at the time, staff said Gee has become physical and made vulgar comments in the past, usually while intoxicated. Police found him down the block and issued the no trespassing order.
At 4:44 a.m., police were called to 585 ½ S. Wasson Lane for an assault. A woman there reported she had been assaulted with a door knob by another woman about three weeks ago. The other woman said the complainant put her in a choke hold so she punched her in the temple. The two had been living together for two to three weeks after meeting at the Valu Stay Motel. The case is under investigation.
Police responded at 8:03 a.m. to 205 W. Cascade Ave. for a package containing a banner/tapestry that had been stolen from the interior north entrance. The item was valued at $25. Cameras show packages being delivered, but there is no way to determine who they were addressed to.
Seth William Harrison, 22, River Falls, was arrested for intimidate victim/dissuade reporting, domestic disorderly conduct, battery and a warrant after police responded at 9:10 p.m. to 218 W. Charlotte St. for a 911 hang-up call in which a female requested Harrison be removed from the residence. The woman said she questioned him about her car, which he has been using, and he threw beer on her, pushed her onto her bed and spit on her. She said he then took her phone and let the room. He eventually threw the phone at her; when she called 911, he allegedly grabbed the phone, hung it up, grabbed her by her hair and dragged her onto the floor where he banged her head on the ground. Harrison was taken to Pierce County Jail.
June 29
At 9:28 a.m., police responded to 336 W. Charlotte St. for an out-of-control juvenile. The juvenile was taken into custody on suspicion of damage to property, disorderly conduct, theft, and possession of marijuana.
Douglas Lee Hultman, 53, River Falls, was arrested at 10 a.m. at 415 N. Winter St. for a St. Croix County warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia and Polk County warrant for fourth degree sexual assault.
At 10:58 a.m., police responded to 988 Hazel St. where a resident had found a microchipped Beagle. The owner was originally tracked down in St. Paul, where the Beagle had gone missing three days prior. It’s unknown how the dog ended up in River Falls.
At 6:16 p.m., police received a report of a juvenile fight that had occurred at 5:45 p.m. at 1209 Emily Circle. The fight, upon investigation, appeared to be a mutual agreement between two juveniles. Disorderly conduct charges were referred for both.
Axel Michael Ford Seltrecht, 19, River Falls, was cited for loud and unnecessary noise/exhibition of power after a traffic stop at 8:36 p.m. at South Main and East Johnson streets.
June 30
At 6:41 a.m., police responded to Rise Baking Company (1147 Benson St.) for a found stolen bicycle. One employee claimed he found the bike in the woods; another claimed his parents had given it to him. By the end of the day, the bike’s tires were slashed while parked in the bike rack. Police reviewed video footage. The case is under investigation.
At 4:31 p.m., police met with two people concerning a neighbor harassment issue taking place in the 1600 block of Morning Glory Court. All neighbors were advised to steer clear of one another.
At 9:07 p.m., police were called to BP (1553 Paulson Road) for a disorderly conduct incident. Acustomer became upset when buying a cigar. The customer told the employee should would be paying with change; the employee told her that was fine, but that she’d have to count out the change herself. The woman called the employee names, left the building and the cigars, came back in, yelled obscenities, grabbed a lottery ticket scanner and threw it on the floor. She then went back outside, came in a third time, threw $1.75 in nickels into the store and yelled “Keep the change, b*%& .” The female customer has yet to be identified.
July 1
At 9:04 a.m., police responded to 1688 Morning Glory Drive for an illegal dumping complaint. A homebuilder reported other people using the dumpster at the site of a home being built without permission. The dumpster was filled with bed mattresses, rocks, sheet rock, car seats, cardboard, bags and other items. One suspect was identified due to Amazon boxes. He was told to clean out what he put in the dumpster.
At 7:25 p.m., police responded to 289 Kari Lane where a home had been egged and a vehicle’s mirrors had been broken while the family was out of town. The vandalism was reported by a cat sitter. Police spoke with a suspect.
Elijah James Durnburgh, 41, River Falls, was ordered not to trespass at Holiday (302 S. Main St.) after an incident that occurred at 8:48 p.m. Durnburgh allegedly became upset when told he couldn’t fill a container with ice, used obscenities toward an employee and threw ice at her. Before police could make contact with Durnburgh to issue the order, he reportedly came into Holiday again at 4:37 p.m. July 3. When he was told to leave, he began yelling and caused a scene. Pierce County Sheriff’s Office found Durnburgh and served the notice at his residence at 5:42 p.m.
Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 11:27 p.m. at Highway 29/25/65 and Cascade Avenue between a 2018 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Brandon A. Serre, 22, River Falls, and a 2007 Ford Explorer, driven by Carson L. Heath, 21, Plum City. Serre was traveling east on East CascadeAvenue at the highway intersection. When he attempted to make a left turn to go north on the highway, Heath was heading west on Highway 29, approaching the intersection. Heath had a green light and was struck by Serre, who had a flashing yellow light. Serre said he thought Heath was going to turn, not head straight. Both drivers wore seat belts and reported no injuries; both vehicles had minor damage. Serre was cited for fail/yield while making left turn.
July 2
At 4:45 a.m., police were sent to 114 S. Falls St. for a domestic incident that had taken place. An argument had taken place between a couple about the man friending another woman on Facebook. Both parties, who had been drinking, declined to fill out statements.
At 1:42 p.m., a resident reported a rear license plate had been stolen from a truck parked at 945 Lucille Court. The screws attaching the plate to the vehicle were also taken.
At 3:32 p.m., Mitch Allen Carufel, 46, Menomonie, approached a parked squad requesting information about a homeless shelter. He was arrested for a Dunn County warrant (felony possession of methamphetamine). He was taken to Pierce County Jail.
Police responded at 5:08 p.m. to 452 Griffey St. to take a harassment complaint. Police attempted contact with the suspect, who did not answer the phone.
At 4:40 p.m., police were sent to 100 E. Spring St. (BestWestern Hotel) for possible narcotics found. An employee had found what she believed to be marijuana tucked between a mattress and box spring. A warrant was issued for James Daniel Burton, 36, River Falls, whose bond conditions prohibit him from possessing illegal drugs. Burton had been arrested the night before on several warrants; when he attempted to collect his belonging from the hotel, the employee found the marijuana. Burton left the hotel before police arrived.
Aimee Anne Pace, 34, River Falls, was cited $124 for sale and discharge of fireworks after police found her shooting off fireworks at 11:04 p.m. in the street at 585 S. Wasson Lane.
July 3
At 8:21 a.m., police were called to 409 Pierce St., where a moaning man was in the complainant’s yard. Police responded but could not locate the man. A short time later, a second caller said the man was laying in the driveway at 408 Hillcrest St. The man was found walking in the 400 block of Hillcrest Street with no shirt or shoes. He said he had been drinking downtown the night before, but blew a 0.0 breath test. He said his chest hurt, so he was taken to the hospital for an evaluation. Athird caller called police reporting damage to a garage door at 832 Oak Knoll Ave. The man admitted to kicking a garage door to find shelter the night before. He told police he hears voices when he uses meth. The man was secured treatment at a facility.
At 9:30 p.m., officers provided mutual aid to Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies at W11149 County Road M, where a violent domestic disturbance had taken place between two men. Joseph Matthew Ciotti, 25, River Falls, was arrested disorderly conduct and battery after allegedly choking his brother, who lost consciousness. When he came to, Ciotti began assaulting him again. Ciotti had fled into the woods, but was located and arrested.
Steven James Clause, 19, River Falls, was cited $187 for underage drinking after police were called at 6:15 p.m. to 3448 Aberdeen Place for a fireworks complaint. Clause was found in the parking lot with an apple cider/raspberry beer. He was warned for discharging fireworks.
July 4
At 10:36 a.m., police were called to River Falls Area Hospital for a dog bite that had occurred at 647 Sunset Lane. A juvenile had gone to a neighbor’s house and began playing with a dog the neighbor was pet sitting. The dog bit the child in the left cheek, at which time the juvenile went home. The juvenile’s father then came over and called the neighbors obscene names and tried to get into the back yard to kill the dog, which he admitted to. The neighbors later found damaged fencing, which the juvenile’s father had punched in anger. They declined to press charges. The dog, whose owner is fromWaseca, Minn., was quarantined. The juvenile received stitches.
Andrew Thomas Bergstrom, 39, River Falls, was cited for trespass to rooftop and possession of THC after police were called at 10:56 p.m. to 218W. Charlotte St. for a trespassing complaint. When police arrived, they found Bergstrom sleeping on the roof of the apartment complex next to a bottle of Fireball and a vape pen that later tested positive for THC. Bergstrom said he had been on the roof with a group of people, who left him there.
July 5
At 12:27 a.m., police were called to Sunset Lane for a fireworks complaint. Upon arrival, the officer saw four people in a driveway with used fireworks in two plastic bins. Ella Graf-Spielman,
21, River Falls, was cited for discharge of fireworks.
Chyna Lanae Hollins, 20, River Falls, was cited for sale and discharge of fireworks. At 1:20 a.m., police witnessed several large fireworks near Dick’s Fresh Market. The fireworks were being detonated in the parking lot. The officer spoke to seven people who were cleaning up the fireworks.
