Ago PRESCOTT JOURNAL January 20, 2011 Group focuses on bringing pride to citizens by Kimberly Adams What does it mean to have pride in the community that you live in? What are the top 50 things that people are proud of in Prescott? What aspects of Prescott can be improved?
These are some of the questions that are being raised by a grassroots group of Prescott citizens that met at the high school library Tuesday, Jan. 11.
Prescott Mayor Mike Hunter, an active member of the Prescott community, keeps a copy of the of- cial vision and mission
statement in his wallet. The vision statement states: “Prescott is committed to reaching the highest performing standards in delivery of services and support. We will balance our cultural and historic past with managed growth, economic stewardship and environmental responsibility.
The mission statement states that Prescott is, “Working together toward reaching our common goals of delivering the best possible services in the most effective and courteous manner at the highest level of integrity to enhance the quality of life for the Prescott community.”

Search for police Facility has public confused while city administrators become frustrated by R. E. Herman When the voters rejected a question of building an addition onto the city municipal building last April, many residents apparently thought that they had rejected any and all expenditures for a new police facility.
That belief, however, is a misconception. All that was done was to insure that there would be no police addition on the municipal building for at least a two-year period.
The question posed on the ballot was: Shall the City of Prescott expand the present City Hall to provide more space for the Prescott Police Department?
In speaking with city of- cials and the public in general, it has become apparent that many residents still believe that they had rejected any police expansion or construction.
Thus, when they heard of the negotiations taking place for the possible purchase of the Prescott Journal building on Orange Street, some residents felt betrayed; that the city has been acting against the stated wishes of voters.
This belief has led some to speak out against the council and police department ofcials as ignoring the residents.
The fact of the matter is that the past and present city councils believe that there is a need for additional space for the police department.
The city council and the police commission have gone on record as agreeing with this need.
