Kathleen Ann Finstad, age 76, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday March 23, 2024, at River Falls Area Hospital. Kathy was born July 17, 1947 and grew up in Bay City, Wis., before her family moved to Ellsworth, Wis. She attended Ellsworth High School and worked for her parents in the rock shop business for many years. She bartended at the Woodshed and Morrie’s Pub before working at the Red Wing Shoe Company and retiring in 2015.
Kathy is survived by her son Rick (Robin) Gernentz, International Falls, Minn; grandsons, Joe (Kerri Bleess) Rhodes, Richard (Toni) Rhodes; great grandson Charlie Rhodes, brother-in-law Jack Hines, nieces Joanne (Scott) Hines, Jillien (Brian) Bjorkman, Janeen Sampson and nephews Jeff (Merry) Hines and John Hines, several great nieces and nephews and her loyal companion, her dog Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd & Dorice (Mewhorter) Finstad and her sister Shirley Hines.
In honoring Kathy’s wishes, a private service will be held. Interment will be at the Bay City Cemetery at a later date.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at River Falls Area Hospital for their kindness, support and care shown to us during Kathy’s stay.
