It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Roy Dunning, age 65, who passed away on Jan. 26, 2025. Kevin’s life was defined by his unwavering love for family, his strong faith, and his passions that touched many lives.
Kevin’s life was guided by his passion for family and faith, which always came first. He was an avid lover of shooting pool, a hobby that brought him joy and camaraderie with friends and family alike. He had a vision of creating his “Fort” up at “The North,” a place for future generations to gather and make memories together. His other passions included woodworking—particularly creating unique, handcrafted gifts—and restoring vintage items that reminded him of his youth. Kevin could often be found trailblazing on his wheeler, forging new paths in the great outdoors, or passionately cheering on his favorite team, the Minnesota Twins, whether at home or in stadiums across the country.
Kevin was a master of hands-on projects and loved sharing his talent and knowledge with others. His common-sense approach to life, combined with his sarcastic, goofy personality, made him a friend to everyone he met. He had a knack for engaging g in conversation and connecting with people from all walks of life. Kevin admired his brothers Mike and Jim for their mechanical expertise and learned much from their self-taught skills. He will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
As Kevin often said, “You’ll learn more by accident hanging around me than elsewhere by design.” These words reflect his generous spirit and the valuable lessons he imparted to all who knew him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his beloved father, Franklin Delbert Dunning, and his dear mother, Mary Louise Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Christine, and his children, Tyler (Bridget), Justice (Dylan), and Mason (Paris). Kevin’s legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Aureus, Royal, Lorena, and Romen.
He is also survived by his siblings: Mike, Vickie, Bonnie (Lothar), Jim (Tammy), and Kristi (Chris), as well as his in-laws: Johnny (Gina), Lynne (Mark), Deb (Roy), David (Kathy), and Jennifer. He was a beloved godfather to many, including Holly, Christina, Dusty, James H, Austin, Lily, James M, Allison, Brilyn, and many others. Kevin leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his dear friend, Cevin.
Kevin will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, faith, and friendship will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
