After an internal candidate search and rigorous interview process, longtime Prescott educator and Director of Teaching and Learning, Mr. Michael Kosmalski was selected to serve as interim principal at Malone Intermediate School for the 2020-21 school year. “I am excited about the journey ahead and look forward to partnering with the MIS staff, families, and community to provide a great learning experience for all students. I want to thank all of my colleagues and mentors over the years that have prepared me for this moment,” stated Kosmalski.

He began his career in the district as a science teacher for 12 years (2004-2016) and was active as a PLC leader and in the development of the current STEM program. During this time, Kosmalski continued his education at UW -River Falls to receive a Master

In 2016 he began his most recent position as Director of Teaching and Learning to coordinate curriculum development, district-wide assessments, professional development, and grant writing.

Kosmalski and his family reside in Prescott. His wife (Erin) is a dyslexia reading specialist in Lakeville and his children will attend three of the four district schools next fall: Collin, 6th (Prescott Middle School), Claire, 3rd (Malone Intermediate), and Caitlin, 2nd (Malone Elementary).

Dr. Rick Spicuzza shared his gratitude to the MIS staff and administrative team that assisted in the selection process, “We had extremely talented individuals who competed for the position. I am extremely proud of the work and leadership Mr. Kosmalski has provided to date on the administrative team and only foresee amazing opportunities for the MIS community and Mr. Kosmalski in the year ahead.”
