Larry Johnson of Ellsworth, Wis. passed away from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease on Dec. 25, 2024 at the age of 78 at Ellsworth Health Services. Larry was born on Aug. 3, 1946 to his parents, Melvin and Stella Johnson.

Larry was raised on a dairy farm and graduated from Ellsworth High School. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1965 and served his country until honorably discharged in 1968. After his time in the service, Larry was employed with Red Wing Shoe Company and was a dairy and crop farmer for many years until his retirement.

Larry married Sharolyn (Feuerhelm) Johnson on Sept. 13, 1969 at Ono United Methodist Church, Maiden Rock, Wis. The couple enjoyed ATV/UTV riding and traveling to Arizona for the winter. Larry was president of the Pierce County ATV/UTV Association for over 15 years. He was a strong promoter of ATV routes and trails and worked tirelessly to ensure they were properly marked. The couple had no children but loved their cats Callie and Sampson.

Larry is survived by his sisters Barb (Everett) Fritz-Muhlhausen of Ellsworth, Nancy (Rick) Darnall of Irvine, Calif., sister-in-law Barb (Gerald Johnson) McLaughlin of Lake City, Minn., brother-in-law Lester (Donna) Feuerhelm of Mission, Texas, nephews Terry Johnson (Tina Passe) of Bay City, Devin Feuerhelm of Bay City, nieces Tina (Pat) Huppert of Beldenville, Jodie Peterson (Jason Ascheman) of Ellsworth, Julie (Jeff) Stoltenburg of Ellsworth, Megan Bailey (Wil Dee) of Orange, Calif., Amber (Brian) Yell of Coon Rapids, Minn., Lenna (Brent) Samuelson of Cameron, Wis., LeAnn (Brian) Rauchwater of Red Wing, Minn. and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Sharolyn Johnson; father Melvin Johnson; mother Stella (Dahl) Johnson; brother Gerald Johnson; brother-in-law Calvin Fritz; grandnephew Joshua Johnson; parents-in-law Everett and Ivy Feuerhelm; and many aunts and uncles.

A private graveside service for Larry will be held at Ono United Methodist Church at Maiden Rock, Wis. at a later date.
