The Prescott American Legion’s famous fried chicken dinners are back!
The Legion Post 61 has been a beehive of activity this summer, with contractors and veteran member muscle making updates and changes. With COVID-19 shutting down the dinners which were the sole fundraiser for Post 61, members and the community stepped forward with funds and sweat equity to help get the Legion facility ready. The first fried chicken dinner event will take place this Saturday, Aug. 7 from 4 – 7 p.m. Due to construction in the basement of the building and other repairs underway, it will be a drive-through event. Don’t miss it! Price is $12 for a half-chicken with all the fixings. Local contractors and veterans are working hard in the building to remodel the bar room, landscaping to divert water away from the building, adding a new handicapped- accessible bathroom and installing a new furnace. The veteran members are also training the next generation in the art of chicken frying and preparing the popular meal.
