Understanding writer’s distress
To the edtior: I am responding to Frank During's 'It's a Sad Day in America'. I like and respect Frank. Back when we HAD church, we attended the same church. I am still grateful for the care he gave my sick horse years ago.
I understand his distress. I had a sign stolen right from my front yard. I replaced it, and that, too, was stolen. I felt the loss of freedom of speech also.
Read the police and sheriff reports. There were signs for both candidates stolen every week. My signs were Biden Harris signs. Both sides were guilty.
On the subject of intimidation- why a 12-foot sign? Why are Trump flags larger than the American flags waving in yards? What purpose do the loud Trump truck rallies serve? To instill fear and intimidation?
Trump has refused to concede the election. With about two months left in his term, he has replaced his Secretary of Defense, Dr. Mark Esper, with a man who does not object to using active-duty military forces in American streets. Esper has stated, 'God help us', if he is replaced with a Trump 'yes man'. As of today, four other senior officials have been replaced with perceived Trump loyalists, including a controversial figure who promoted fringe conspiracy theories and called former President Barack Obama a terrorist. What is Trump planning? These are actions that sow fear in my heart and the hearts of many Americans.
