To the editor,
On Nov. 3, 2026, Wisconsin voters have a chance to select a new governor (early voting is Oct. 20-30). Tom Tiffany, Republican candidate for governor, voted yes to Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill (which is anything but.) This bill by the numbers: $187,000,000,000 cuts to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) that provides food benefits to low-income families to supplement their grocery budget, allowing them to afford nutritious food.
Additionally, this bill cuts $930,000,000,000 in Medicaid assistance that benefits low-income families, disabled individuals and their caregivers.
Who benefited from this BBB? $1,000,000,000,000 in tax cuts for the top 1% (yes, that is $1 trillion). Is Tom Tiffany the type of individual who we want to govern our state? His opponent, Democratic candidate David Crowley, focuses on lowering expenses for working families through his “Badger Basics” plan. He favors local government, voting rights and nonpartisan redistricting.
Tom Tiffany has been an avid supporter of Trump, whose policies are raising everyday expenses like utility costs, gas and groceries. This is Wisconsin voters’ opportunity to choose a governor who best represents Wisconsin values.
