To the editor,
It's time to encourage voter participation in the upcoming elections.
In a study by a researcher at Arizona Christian University, it was estimated that 32 million Christians were likely to stay home rather than vote in the 2024 Presidential election. It is common knowledge that even smaller numbers will participate in a mid-term election.
But George Barna, Director of Research at the Cultural Research Center says, "It doesn't have to be that way." It could be as simple as "encouraging people to vote in order to fulfill their biblical responsibility."
Some of the discussion items in the current election cycle include: open borders, reverence for life (abortion), men in women's sports and locker rooms, crime and fraud, DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion, rather than merit in employment standards) and increased property taxes.
Exodus 18:21 and Deuteronomy 1:13-16, 16:18 direct people to choose Godly leaders to enforce laws and standards of government.
We are at a crossroads. If good men do nothing, evil will prevail.
Please consider mentioning to your congregation the importance of participation in the upcoming elections.
Blessed is the nation where Jesus is Lord.
