Live Better Community Service Award presented to Claire John

ELLSWORTH – Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services is pleased to announce Claire John as the Live Better Community Service Award winner for the first quarter of 2025. John received the award and a $100 MasterCard gift card on Feb. 4 for her generous work as a volunteer for Lost Creek Ranch, a non-profit horse rescue in Beldenville, Wis.

“Claire has been an outstanding volunteer at Lost Creek Ranch, even while juggling her studies at UWRF and keeping a 4.0 GPA, working part-time, and rehabbing her adopted horse with a neurological condition,” said Ruth Harper in nominating John. “Claire is the first to volunteer to lend a hand and her muscle to hard jobs around the barn like unloading hay and grain, feeding the herd of rescue horses in all weather, and even helping to teach the next generation of riders in the lesson program. She provides a positive, strong role model for the young girls with whom she works.”  Harper noted that John’s work ethic is strong, and her desire to do the right thing for the horses and youth is unmatched. She deserves to be recognized and appreciated for her contribution not only to the barn but to the community through her good works at the barn.

John is a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls studying chemistry. In addition to her volunteer work, John enjoys reading, researching topics, and decompressing.

“I am so extremely grateful to Ruth Harper and Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services for the nomination and being chosen for this award,” said John. “I encourage everyone to stop by and tour Lost Creek Ranch. Lessons are available, and we have the most amazing rescue horses.”

Congratulations, Claire, and thank you for using your talents to make a difference in our community!
