Lloyd Kearns 1935-2023

Lloyd F. Kearns, 87, of Ellsworth and formerly of Webster, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday morning, Jan. 22, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems ~ Red Wing.

Lloyd was born Dec. 8, 1935, to Edward and Rose (Black) Kearns in Plum City, Wis.

He grew up in Plum City and served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Lloyd was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict and was an accomplished sharpshooter.

On May 21, 1960, he married Peggy Young at the Lost Creek Church in El Paso Township. Together they raised their three children.

Lloyd worked for PalCal Steel most of his working career and retired from Niro of Hudson. He was an active volunteer with the Boys Scouts of America as a scout leader, member of the Moose Lodge and Pierce County Snow Mobile Council.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Lloyd enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren and will be missed.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Larry (Kimberly) Kearns, Lori (Doug) Dodge and Joe (Sharon) Kearns; grandchildren, Cory (Amy) Dodge, Ryan (Amanda) Dodge, Joshua (Erica) Kearns, Nicole (Josh) Stewart, Nathan (Pati) Kearns, Kyle (Natalie) Kearns, Jessica Kearns, Josh (Amanda) Craighton, Jeremiah Craighton and Angie (Mike) Vannet; great-grandchildren, Addison, Elin, Josie and Kinley Dodge, Hadley and Whitten Kearns, Jaxson and Lexi Stewart, Madilyn and Isabel

Kearns and Ayden Craighton; siblings, Leon (Arlette), Norbert (Caroline), Bill, Judy (Chuck) Guetschow, and Carol (Dennis) Haglund and other dear in-laws, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Shelby Kearns; two brothers and three sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth, Wisconsin with visitation one hour prior to the church. O’Connell Funeral Home of Ellsworth is assisting the family.
