Local Bar Association offers free legal clinic

The State Bar of Wisconsin Volunteer Lawyers Program and the St. Croix Valley Bar Association are sponsoring a free legal clinic for the purpose of providing general legal information to members of the community.

The free legal clinic will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Pierce County Courthouse, EOC Room (next to the UW Extension office)._ The St. Croix Valley Bar Association will have attorneys on hand to meet with individuals for approximately 10 to 15 minutes to provide general information in the following areas of law:_ family law, landlord/tenant and small claims, criminal/traffic, estate planning/elder law/probate, real estate, business law, and bankruptcy._ For more information, contact Pierce County Clerk of Circuit Court’s Office at (715) 273-3531 or Phil Helgeson at Heywood, Cari & Anderson, S.C. at (715) 262-5551.

FREE LEGAL CLINIC SAFETY PLAN

•Attendees and volunteers will be asked screening questions upon entry into the building. _Anyone answering 'yes' will not be allowed to attend the legal clinic and will be advised to return the following month.

•All volunteers and attendees are required to_wear masks at all times while in the Government Center.

•A maximum of 8 volunteers and attendees will be allowed in the meeting room at one time.

•Attendees will be monitored to ensure social distancing while waiting in the hallway.

•Time limits of 10-15 minutes with the attorney will be strictly enforced to limit the amount of time attendees are present in the Government Center.
