MAIDEN ROCK – A Minneapolis woman is accused of breaking into a Maiden Rock man’s house and trying to steal valuables with an accomplice while the man was in the hospital.
Danielle Rae Rogers, 46, posted a $10,000 signature bond Aug. 11 on felony burglary – building or dwelling, felony battery or threat to judge, prosecutor or law enforcement officer and criminal damage to property charges. If convicted, Rogers faces up to 12 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines.
According to the complaint: At 3:49 p.m. Aug. 10, Pierce County deputies were called to a burglary in progress at a Highway 35 address. The caller said they saw people going into a residence through a window. When police arrived, a man was coming out of the residence, but when he saw law enforcement, he went back in the house.
Neighbors had noticed a vehicle parked in the residence’s driveway at 9:30 a.m. Since the homeowner was at the hospital, the neighbors thought it might be family retrieving belongings for him. They saw a man with a dog going in and out of the residence throughout the afternoon.
Another neighbor reported a woman, later identified as Rogers, flagging her down in her yard and telling her that they were cleaning the house for the homeowner while he was in the hospital. Rogers told her she might go to the bakery to get the homeowner some treats for when he returned from the hospital. After lunch, the neighbor went for a walk and ran into Rogers again, who invited her into the home. Rogers told her she was doing laundry and cleaning for the homeowner, but it didn’t appear so. The neighbor became suspicious and went home to call police.
The police identified the man as Gene Edward Haring, 56. He told police he lives with Rogers and is helping her remodel her house in MinneapoBURGLARY

lis. He also said Rogers told him that they were in Maiden Rock to clean out her ex-boyfriend’s dad’s house. He told police Rogers had accessed the home through a window.
While police spoke with Haring, Rogers had become combative and verbally abusive toward officers. She screamed and swore and eventually tried to jump off a small ledge. After she was placed in a squad, she was reportedly screaming uncontrollably and rocking the squad. She somehow turned in the seat and was able to kick the window of the squad until it shattered. The woman was placed in another squad and her feet restrained so she couldn’t kick out another window. While trying to get her in the second vehicle, an officer had to deploy his Taser after several warnings to comply with commands.
While being transported to the jail, Rogers threatened to shoot the officer several times; she also claimed the Minneapolis mayor is her cousin. She accused officers multiple times of inappropriate touching and refused to cooperate.
Neighbors had contacted the homeowner, who was coming home from the hospital. When he arrived at home, he found several of his items in Rogers’ vehicle. He said he knew Rogers, but that she didn’t have permission to be at his house.
Haring denied taking anything out of the house. He told police he had met Rogers in the Cities where he was sitting on the side of the road with a sign. He was also placed under arrest. On Aug. 11, he posted a $10,000 signature bond on a felony burglary – building or dwelling charge (as party to a crime).
Rogers and Haring are scheduled to appear in Pierce County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing Oct. 7.
