Marilyn Marie (Hetrick) Fleming, 89, of Prescott, Wis., died Monday, April 7, 2025 at her home with family by her side.

Mary was born Aug. 4, 1935 in Pepin, Wis., the daughter of David Thomas and Evelyn Ruth (Steele) Hetrick. She graduated from Pepin High School with the class of 1953.

Marilyn married James LeRoy Fleming on July 17, 1954 in Wabasha, Minn. They began raising their family on Lake Street in Pepin before moving to Prescott in 1959. Marilyn has five children, nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Marilyn was a member of the UCC, a Pack 133 Cub Scout Den mother, Prescott Auxiliary secretary and a Ptacek’s IGA employee. She loved selling poppies, presenting awards, cleaning the Legion Hall and marching with the Auxiliary.

She loved spending time with relatives, neighbors and friends, giving perms, playing canasta, playing the piano alongside her brother, Chuck, and his accordion, entertaining the residents at the Pepin Manor, dancing with her sister, Darlene.

Marilyn is survived by her four sons, Jim (Tania) Fleming, Prescott, Tom (Karen) Fleming, River Falls, David (Lisa) Fleming, Floyd Knobs, Ind., Danny Fleming, Prescott; one daughter, Rhonda (John) Serres, Hastings, Minn.; three brothers, Jim (Gerry) Hetrick, Pepin, Everett (Kim) Hetrick, Pepin, John (Aleeta) Hetrick, Stockholm; one sister, Darlene (Darrel) Larson, Nelson, ; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, James Fleming; parents, and two brothers, Charles and Ronald Hetrick.

A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, Old Ptacek’s Event Center, 1449 Orrin Road, Prescott, Wis. Visitation began at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Pine Glen Cemetery.
