HUDSON – Hudson’s 10th annual St. Croix RiverFest celebration is set for July 19 – 23. Hudson will celebrate the St. Croix River with this annual summer “Party with a Purpose” with activities designed to inspire people of all ages to actively celebrate the river while recognizing the need to preserve and protect the river’s health and beauty.
RiverFest kicks ou with the annual river clean-up at 10 am. Tuesday, July 19. The river clean-up is the “purpose” for the RiverFest celebration. Those participating in the cleanup will meet at Lakefront Park Bandshell and then collect trash along the riverfront. A complimentary lunch will be provided for clean-up crews at Picnic Point at the south end of Lakefront Park.
There will be two opportunities to see the Carpenter Nature Center animal ambassadors on Tuesday, July 19. The Hudson Area Public Library will host the Animals of the St. Croix Valley at 10:30 a.m. at Weitkamp Park. Or you can bring the kids to Picnic Point to see reptiles and amphibians starting at 11:30 a.m.
A new event this year will be a foraging walk at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19. Join local forager Russ Lake on a walk to learn about eatable plants growing on the beautiful property at Bluebird Hill Homestead.
On Wednesday evening, July 20, families with young children will enjoy The Toonies ENVIRO-FUN Puppet Show at the Lakefront Park Bandshell at 6:30 p.m.
Other RiverFest activities include the popular St. Croix Valley Community Band Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21. There is a prairie nature hike at Carpenter Nature Center Wisconsin Campus at 7 p.m. Friday, July 22. On Saturday, July 23, the Native American Celebration is from 1-4 p.m., followed by The Longer Table Picnic at 5 p.m. RiverFest concludes with the Honor the River program at 6:30 p.m.
