Marlene Lind, age 89 of Ellsworth, died peacefully at her home on July 7, 2023. Marlene was born on June 5, 1934 in Eau Galle, Wis., the daughter of Sherman and Mayme (Kelly) Woods. She was raised in Elmwood, graduating from high school in the class of ‘52. On April 26, 1954, she was united in marriage to Marvin Lind at Bethel Covenant Church in rural Ellsworth. This union would be further blessed with five children: Terry, James, Jerry, Lorie, Denny. Marlene was a devoted homemaker who cherished her family. Nothing made her happier than a house full of commotion with family and friends. It was more than fitting that the family homestead was the old Sleepy Hollow Schoolhouse where children were encouraged to be kids! It was a second home for her kids’ friends too. Everyone was welcome. Card parties and plenty of food were commonplace. Furthermore, she loved the holidays because it meant entertaining. The family on Thanksgiving was treated not only with a feast, but to Bingo being called with prizes.

On a quiet day, she would crochet and knit dish towels or blankets. Her favorite passion was gardening. The home was adorned with flower beds. She took great pride in making sure her beds were manicured and fed. The roses and lilies rewarded her, or any guest for that matter, with beautiful blossoms and fragrance. She and Marvin raised their children in a home of love with their faith as the centerpiece. She was a constant source of encouragement offering support through any adversity. She would offer great comfort while at the same time motivating you to prove others wrong!

Marlene will fondly be remembered by her children; Terry Lind, Jerry Lind, Lorie Bauman, Denny (Lindy) Lind; grandchildren Shannon (Jonathan) Heinz, Jenny (Derrick) Christopherson, Christopher (Jalaine) Bauman, Ashley Lind, Kelci (John) Henegar, Connor Lind; step grandchildren Keilin Jeter, Kase Jeter, Kymbree Jeter; great grandchildren Genevieve, Weston, Bodhi; siblings Eldon (Dorothy) Woods, Lorna ‘Babe’ (Myron) Olson; as well as many other friends and relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband Marvin; son James; siblings Darrel, Verneal, Duane, Hilda, Verla, and Lila.
