Bradley A. Taplin*

Position: Town chair

John Worsing*

Position: Supervisor 1

Dale Brathol

Occupation: Retired

Position for which you are running: Supervisor 2

Previous elected positions: I've never run for public office before. I'm retired from Andersen Corporation where I held several leadership positions for 27 of my nearly 40-year career there.

Community/civic activities: I'm on the board of directors for the St. Croix Valley Shrine Club. I'm also serving on two committees for the River Falls School Forest. I'm a member and past president of the River Falls Masonic Lodge, as well as past president (three times) of the Baldwin-Spring Valley Freemasons. I also served on the River Falls Baseball Council board during the planning and construction of the ballpark in River Falls.

What are the biggest challenges faced by the township? I think the biggest challenges for Martell or any township is having the funds to provide good roads and supporting any other infrastructure needs. We also need to elevate the importance of local government and encourage more engagement, especially to our younger residents. We need to attract new, younger leaders that will be willing to step up and become involved in local decision making.

What are the strengths of the township? Martell township has a great mix of people from varying backgrounds and experiences that provide many different perspectives. The strength is in their engagement.

Why should people vote for you? I believe we need to elect new voices and new perspectives now and then. I've worked at the polls for the past 10 years or so and have seen so many races with only one candidate running. I believe we need to encourage participation and if elected, that is something that I will be working on. Also, improving communication and standard practices in the township, and making sure we are advocating for all of the citizens of Martell.

What is your favorite part of living in this township? How long have you lived here? I'm originally from Hammond but spent summers on my grandparents’ farm only a few miles from where I live now. My wife and I have lived here for 39 years. We have a small sugarbush, where my wife and kids, and now grandkids make maple syrup every spring. I'm also a registered tree farmer and actively manage my woodland property for sustainability.
