Meet nature photographer Amy DeLong at Artist Reception Oct. 1

ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Public Library invites the community to meet River Falls nature photographer Amy DeLong during an artist reception for her exhibit, “The Symphony of Wild Places,” from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1. The free reception offers an opportunity to meet DeLong, learn more about her journey from clergy to photographer, and explore the inspiration behind her captivating images of the natural world.

Currently on display at the Ellsworth Public Library through Oct. 29, ‘The Symphony of Wild Places” features photographs of birds, wildlife and natural landscapes. DeLong’s work invites viewers to slow down, notice the beauty around them and experience the natural world with a sense of wonder.

DeLong’s path to photography grew out of her 24 years in ministry. After leaving the pulpit, she found a new way to explore themes of awe, connection and the sacred through her camera.

“After 24 years of ministry, I traded in pulpit and pews for wild places—where my congregation is now towering pines and chickadees,” DeLong says.

She describes her photography as an evolution of her previous work, using her camera as “a lens for seeking the sacred, finding awe in the smallest details, and cultivating wonder.”

Based in River Falls, DeLong hopes her images capture the quiet, grounding beauty of the natural world. Her work reflects her belief that nature can be a teacher, healer and sanctuary—and encourages viewers to pause, breathe, and appreciate the artistry found all around them.

The Oct. 1 artist reception will give community members a chance to meet DeLong in person and hear more about the experiences and perspective that shape her photography. Guests can enjoy the exhibit, ask questions, and learn more about the artist behind the images.

“The Symphony of Wild Places” will remain on display at the Ellsworth Public Library through Oct. 29 and can be viewed during regular library hours. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
