Michael Bernard Thompson, age 82, of Clintonville, formerly of River Falls, passed away on June 28, 2023 at Birch Hill Health Services in Shawano, Wis. Michael was born to Earl and Lorraine (Jewell) Thompson on June 14, 1941 in River Falls, Wis. He attended River Falls High School, graduating with the class of 1958. Michael married the love of his life, Diane Warnick on Jan. 16, 1961 in Decorah, Iowa. This union blessed them with two children: Brenda and Kevin. Michael attended the University of Wisconsin River Falls and Metro-State University in the Twin Cities. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Aviation, followed by a career as a flight instructor for the DC-9 Fleet at Northwest Airlines.
Michael enjoyed traveling; it was a huge part of his life. This included numerous cruises with Diane, many to far-off places such as Europe and South America. He loved to spend many summers boating on the St Croix River with his family. Michael also was a skilled home designer and builder.
Michael is survived by his children: Brenda (Robert) Herubin and Kevin (Ronda) Thompson; siblings: Regena Barrett, Wanda (Richard) Karpik, and Lawrence Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife Diane Thompson; parents: Earl and Lorraine; and sister, Jeannie Thompson.
A private family burial will be held in July.
