Want to be appreciated?

One way is to do what most people will not do.

In this day and age of lightning fast communications, there is one source of communication that is overlooked.

Just sit down and take a couple minutes out of your day and write a note to someone. It does not have to be long or flowery. Just a simple note to a friend who has touched your life. Yes, a hand written note. In cursive even if you have to look that up in the dictionary. Remember writing that way in school? It can be a simple “how are you doing?'' A quick note to express your concern for someone. It does not have to be long and rambling. Just a few sincere words that say you care.

Keep a drawer full of simple thank you cards along with envelops and a supply of stamps. Forget the internet. The email is quick and easy, but you don't want to rush sincerity. When you learn someone you know has received an unexpected honor, drop them a line saying how happy you are for them. If they have suffered a loss, a quick hand written note of support can bring hope at a time of great loss.

This one lone act can make someone's life brighter, if even for just a moment.

It will make your day go better too because you will know you took the time to write. Old fashioned as it may be, it will make two people feel better. The sender and the receiver.

So, take a minute and write a quick note to someone in your life. You will feel better and it will only take less than 5 minutes. Time well spent.
