RIVER FALLS — At a special meeting held on June 22, 2026, the School District of River Falls School Board voted unanimously to appoint Thong Moua to fill the vacancy recently created by the resignation of board member Alison Page.
The board received applications and letters of reference from several highly qualified community members and conducted comprehensive interviews with the candidates. Following considerable discussion and careful deliberation, the board selected Moua to serve through April, 2027. Moua indicated his interest in running as an incumbent school board member in the April 2027 election.
“Thong has demonstrated long-term interest in the River Falls School District and in school board service,” states School Board President Stacy Johnson Myers. “The school board is eager to welcome Thong and his experience and expertise to the school board. The board is confident that Thong will uphold the board’s values of collaboration, civility, and strong support for public education, while bringing new perspectives to decision-making. Many thanks to the three other community members who stepped forward to serve on the board. The district is fortunate to have strong support for the community’s schools.”
Moua is a 14-year resident of the River Falls community and a dedicated district parent of five children. Two of his children are proud River Falls High School graduates, and three are currently attending Meyer Middle School and River Falls High School. Professionally, Moua serves as a Senior Consultant for ICE Mortgage Technology and holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from Notre Dame and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of St. Thomas. He also brings a deep commitment to youth mentorship to school board service through his years of volunteering with the Boy Scouts and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
In his new role, Moua aims to protect the district’s financial competitiveness, support its excellent staff, and ensure all students receive the high-quality preparation needed to become engaged and effective members of the community.
Moua will officially assume his duties on the board immediately and will participate in his first regular meeting on July 20.
