ELLSWORTH – The Ellsworth Police Department and the Ellsworth Village Board are excited to take our annual National Night Out community building campaign back to its roots. The goal for National Night Out is to build neighborhood camaraderie and enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement with block parties hosted by residents.

Ellsworth will join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 39th annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out involves over 16,540 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases around the world. In all, over 38.1 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime.”

National Night out is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;

• Generate support for, and participation in, local an- ticrime euorts;

• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships;

• Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are orga- nized and fighting back. This year’s National Night Out will be Tuesday, Aug. 2 and we’re seeking volunteers to host a party in your yard or on the street in your neighborhood. Most neighborhood events are hosted between 5-8 p.m. Contact Jennifer Wagner at 715-273-3275 or [email protected] ellsworthpolice. org with any questions and to register your block party with the police department to ensure that an ovcer stops by your neighborhood.
