NHS students at SVHS hold blood drive

Posted

On Nov. 17, 2023, the Spring Valley National Honor Society students hosted a blood drive at the school. It was an extremely successful day. They had 25 high school students, 19 staff members, and many community members donate. Many were first time donors. They collected 61 units of blood and when divided into three separate blood components, there is the potential to help up to 183 patients in need. They hope everyone had a wonderful experience and that they’ll see them all again next fall!

The National Honor Society will be helping with the upcoming blood drives on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 at the Spring Valley Ambulance Bay and on April 19, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Please consider signing up to donate at one of these future drives. The American Red Cross has a very generous scholarship program for our high school seniors. The more blood collected at these upcoming drives, the more they give our students. Mark your calendars and watch for notifications in the near future!

We would also like to thank the following local businesses who helped make our blood drive so successful - Spring Valley Drug and Hardware, A Butchery Shoppe, Nana’s Spring Valley Bakery, Subway, Team Oil, and MBC Sports.
