PRESCOTT – Mrs. Vicki Olson recently received the Diocese of La Crosse Middle School Teacher of the Year award.
“She was recognized for her teaching, and specifically for exemplifying the St. Joseph Parish School motto, to live ‘In Christ, As Christ, and For Christ.’” said St. Joseph Principal Chris Magee. “The school and parish community are so proud of her and this wonderful accomplishment!”
Olson, a sixth-grade teacher, has taught at St. Joseph for 11 years. She and husband Dave have two children, Aidan and Cora. On her school webpage, she describes herself as an outdoor lover, organizer and passionate baker and chef.
“Of all the things I love to do in life, one of my greatest passions is teaching,” Olson said on her school page. “I have a strong belief in God that keeps me grounded in all that I do. I love to be surrounded by the faith-filled community at St. Joseph Parish School.”
Magee said Olson was nominated through a process open to administrators, teachers, staff, and parents throughout the Diocese of La Crosse each winter. Top nominees are initially selected by a panel of three Diocesan Advisory Council administrators, then those are brought to the larger council, where nomination summaries are reviewed again and voted upon. Olson received the highest number of votes in the Middle School Teacher category.
