One man was injured in a camper explosion over the weekend in the Bay City Campground.
According to a news release from Ellsworth Fire Assistant Chief Derek Featherstone, crews were dispatched at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 to W6480 Lake Pepin Boulevard #24, where they found a 30-foot camper trailer with the passenger side blown out and laying on the ground.
Witnesses on scene reported that there was fire coming from the front passenger side of the trailer that they had extinguished. Crews turned off utilities to the trailer and checked for any further signs of fire. A man was the lone occupant in the trailer at the time of the explosion; he was transported to the hospital by Red Wing Fire Department with undetermined injuries. Featherstone did not catch the man’s name before he was transported from the scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
Ellsworth Fire was assisted on scene by Red Wing Fire Department and Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
