Ellsworth’s Avery O’Neil has been chosen by the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association to play in its annual Senior All-Stars Games, which are usually held in mid-June at Woodside Sports Complex and Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
The association is looking at playing the games Aug. 3-4. Festivities will include a banquet and other activities. O’Neil was chosen based on her Ellsworth career stats, and she will represent the Panthers on the Division 2-3 squad.
O’Neil earned All-Middle Border Conference First Team honors as a junior and helped lead the Panthers to the conference championship. It was O’Neil’s third time receiving conference honors. A pitching ace, she had an ERA of 1.48 and recorded 226 strikeouts last season. She did a lot of damage at the plate also, batting .390 and a .693 slugging percentage.
