Operation Round Up Grants Support Critical Services

Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) members are supporting critical local services through the co-op’s Operation Round Up program. Grants were approved for three organizations at the cooperative’s May 7 board meeting: Have a Heart, Inc., received $3,000 for group home remodeling; Assistance & Resource Center received $2,000 for rent assistance and the Durand Fire Department received $1,500 for assistance with the purchase of a new brush truck.

Members who participate in Operation Round Up donate $6.00 annually on average. Collectively, these donations allow members to make a big impact in their communities.

“Through these donations, citizens spanning all ages will be aided, and their lives improved,” said Nate Boettcher, PPCS’ president and CEO. “We are very thankful for the generosity of our members who participate in Operation Round Up.”

Operation Round Up provides charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations that offer programs and support projects to enhance the quality of life for those within the communities served by the cooperative. It is funded by participating Pierce Pepin members who round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar each month or donate a specific dollar amount.

Operation Round Up grants are awarded quarterly by the Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services board of directors. Nonprofit organizations interested in applying may visit www.piercepepin.coop or call 800-924-2133 for information. The next application deadline is June 15.
