The Prescott Kiwanis Student of the Week for March 22 is Prescott High School junior Abby Overland, who was nominated by English teacher Bonnie McNary.

“Abby is an exceptional writer in AP English Language and Composition,” McNary said. “She consistently challenges herself to hone her rhetorical skills and improve her writing. Abby has the exceptional ability to examine methodically the structure of a text or a writing prompt for purposes of interpretation and explanation. She then formulates a nuanced, defensible claim and supports it with evidence from different perspectives to build a compelling argument that is always insightful and entertaining. It is a joy to read Abby’s writing and to have her in class.

Abby is the daughter of Eric and Marcia Overland. The honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society and PHS cross country and track and field teams. She works at the Port of Prescott Hotel and enjoys hanging out with friends, shopping and reading. In the future, she plans to attend college to major in kinesiology and psychology.
