The Ellsworth Panthers boys’ golf players are all ready for the 2021 season. The team consists of juniors Jacob Strusz, Nick White and Hunter Westerberg, sophomores Vinny Young and Ethan Oricchio, and freshman Trey Wittenburg. The young Ellsworth squad has a bright future ahead of them.
“Everyone on the team is going to be a major contributor,” Coach Carson Huppert said. “It takes everyone to commit to get better every single day if we want to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves.”
Who can the Panthers expect to lead the team?
“They are a close group of friends and they all feed off each other,” Huppert told the Journal.
Huppert pointed to his athlete’s enjoying their sport as one of their strengths this season.
“Our number one team strength is the love for the game,” Huppert said. “Everyone wants to get better day in and day out. They play a lot, learn, and continue to challenge themselves every day.”
What kind of goals do the Panthers have for the 2021 season?
“I sound like a broken record, but our goals are to continue to get better every day,” Huppert stated. “The team has a love for the game, and we will continue to challenge ourselves to outwork the competition. Understanding a long-term view is important. It’s going to be fun season.”
Huppert said he expects Saint Croix Central and New Richmond to pace the Middle Border Conference this season.
