Paul M. Abbott, age 67 of Prescott, Wis., passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 14, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
Paul was born on July 23, 1957, in Elyria, Ohio, to Joseph and Joann Abbott. They moved to Mendota Heights, then to Eagan, Minn., where Paul graduated in 1975 from Henry Sibley High School. In 1976, he joined the St. Paul Fire Department. During his career, he headed the Search and Rescue Team, was active on the Dive Team, Paramedic, Arson Squad and later retired in 2001 as the Captain of Headquarters in downtown St Paul.
Paul and his business partner, Pete Schwartz, ran the beer distribution at WE Fest Country Music Festival in Detroit Lakes from 1984-2008. During this time, they also ran other beer distribution venues, food booths, and food trailers.
Paul enjoyed 20 years of boating on the Mississippi/St. Croix River, riding his 911 (Fire Edition) Harley motorcycle, horseback riding, socializing, telling stories with a cocktail in his hand, sitting in the back yard watching all of his birds (especially the hummingbirds) as well as all of the other wildlife that walked through. Most of all, Paul loved spending time with his family.
Paul was deeply loved and will be missed by his wife, Tamara; son, Jesse (Jennifer) Abbott; daughter, Sierra Abbott; grandchildren, Logan and Liberty; siblings, Mary (Randy) Anderson, Joseph (Teresa) Abbott and Steven Abbott; and by many other relatives and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerard Abbott.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. Private family interment will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a Celebration of Paul’s Life from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, and for one hour prior to the service on Monday, all at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. A reception will also be held at the funeral home following the services on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family in memory of Paul.
