Paul J. Marschall, age 88 of Prescott, Wis., died suddenly but peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, July 22, 2023.

Paul Joseph, the son of Peter and Theresa (Wiederholt) Marschall, was born on March 11, 1935, in St. Paul, Minn. He attended Hastings High School and graduated with the class of 1952. From 1954-1956, Paul served in the United States Army, stationed at the Landstuhl Air Force Base in Kaiserslautern, Germany. On June 27, 1959, Paul was united in marriage to Carol Ellen Driscoll at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prescott. In 1961 he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Paul spent his entire career as a CPA at McGladrey’s, starting in 1961 in Davenport, Iowa. He later moved to Iowa City, and then in 1970 to South Bend, Ind., where he stayed and raised his family. Paul retired in 1996 after 30 years as a partner in the firm. After Paul retired, he and Carol lived in Venice and Englewood, Fla. and in 2006, they returned to Prescott part-time.

Paul was talented, generous and outgoing, and was strongly committed to his family, friends, community, and faith. He was involved in many organizations, including the South Bend Rotary Club, the Memorial Health Foundation, and the Soren Society. He was an avid golfer and card player, and later in life, enjoyed baking and cooking. He loved travel (and food!) and spending time with family and friends. He was proud of his stint as a catcher for the Miesville Mudhens and his deep connections to the Miesville community. The bonds with his life-long friends were strong and brought him immeasurable joy and comfort, especially in the autumn years of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Carol; sister, Joan; and by his brother-in-law, David Besser.

Paul is survived by his three children, Peter John (Brenda) Marschall of Mishawaka, Ind., Patrick Jay (Christine) Marschall of North Brook, Ill., and Melissa Jane Marschall (Michael Orchard) of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren, Adam (Shital) Marschall, Meredith (Daniel) Ferris, Kyle (Katelyn) Fleming, Adam (Jaclyn) Fleming, Matthew Marschall, Michael Marschall, Katelyn Marschall, Conor Orchard and Paul Orchard; his great grandchildren, Mahlik and Niam Marschall, Grace and Everett Ferris; Hailey and Harper Fleming; and Crew Fleming; his nieces Ann Besser and Jean Lim; and by other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prescott, with Rev. Father Damian J. Redfern officiating. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Miesville, Minn.
