PLUM CITY – The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #365 in Plum City handed out awards for poppy posters and Americanism essays at the Memorial Day program at the duck pond in Plum City on May 29. First place winners in the poppy poster competition were as follows:
4-K -Dominic Widman
Kindergarten – Brylynn Schladweiler
Grade 1 – Alison Derricks
Grade 2 – Alexander Klein
Grade 3 – Olivia Stewart
Grade 4 – Dominic Holmstadt
Grade 5 – Aubree Keith
Grade 6 – Hannah Bechel
Grade 7 – Weston Bocksell
Grade 8 – Makala Breunig
Breunig’s poster was chosen to send to the state competition.
In the essay contest the first-place winners were:
Grade 3 – Barrett Kanakares
Grade 4 -Gabriel Peterson
Grade 5 – Dawson Coss
Grade 6 – Alana Ratzlow
Grade 7 – Reese Delong
Grade 8 – Timothy Peterson
The essays written by Tmothy Peterson, Ratzlow and Gabriel Peterson were chosen to be sent to the state competition. Timothy and Gabriel were present to read their essays. Gabriel also won a third place at the state level. Congratulations to all the winners.
