Staff report
BAY CITY – On Saturday, June 19, the Pierce County Historical Association unveiled a new historical plaque at the Conlin Log Cabin, honoring the Pierce County pioneer family who built it.
PCHA held the celebration at the River Bluffs History Center (W6321 E. Main St., Bay City).
Irish immigrants Patrick Conlin and his wife Margaret Legan built the log cabin in 1856 in Section 27 of Hartland Township near Esdaile. They farmed 80 acres and had seven children in the cabin, three of whom survived to adulthood. Vincent Wood, the subsequent owner of the Conlin farm, donated the cabin to PCHA in 1991.
Members of the Conlin family were on hand for the plaque unveiling.
