Spring arrives in Prescott when American goldfinches come to the house, said resident Roger Boros. Goldfinches eat primarily seeds, cracking them open with their short bills. They also snack on buds, sap and young twig bark. To attract them to your yard, plant native thistles or milkweed. The are also drawn to the seeds of sunflowers, coneflowers, asters and grasses.
