The Prescott Cardinals golf team may not be large, but they’re ready for the 2021 season.
Consisting of just four athletes, the Cardinals are working on rebuilding a program that’s used to higher numbers of athletes participating.
“We are a team that is looking to improve every match,” Coach Jay Bartsch told The Journal. “Without having a season last year, trying to find a leader is difficult and with the lack of numbers not necessarily the most important thing.”
The roster is led by seniors Brady Lenz and Teddy Huppert. Sophomore Evan Radke and freshman Evan Ackey round out the 2021 Prescott golf team.
“Right now, we are trying to build the program to post Covid numbers, selling the program to our junior high and any other interested high school students that would like to give it a try, is one of our primary goals. Our strength would be attitudes and the ability to want to work to get better, which would also be considered one of our goals,” Bartsch said.
