PHS speech team earns 9 gold medals

The Prescott High School Speech team competed at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech and Dramatic Arts Association State Festival on April 19, 2024 at DeForest High School. The team collectively earned nine gold medals (a perfect score of 25/25 points), nine silver medals (a total score of 23 or 24 out of 25), and five bronze medals (a total score of 20-22 points out of 25).

The team was led by three students who double entered: Grace Ryan who earned a gold medal in Impromptu Speaking and a silver medal in Oratory; Hunter Dearborn, who earned a gold medal in Expository and a bronze medal in Impromptu; and Katie Huppert, who earned a silver medal in both Impromptu and Special Occasion.

Rounding out the team earning gold medals included Andaria Henderson (Prose), Owen Henderson (Prose), Allie Tibayan (Moments in History), Abby Stubbe (Moments in History), Sage Brock and Riley Renteria (Group Interpretation), Alissa Zerneke and Camryn Rickers (Group Interpretation), and Sophia Kapsh (Farrago).

Also earning silver medals included: Kyra Dix (Expository), MaKenna and Kendra Ogilvie (Group Interpretation), Mack Eggers (Impromptu), Max Dearborn (Radio News Reporting), Rory Zuehlsdorf (Special Occasion), and Cara Fiedler (Special Occasion). Finally, four additional students earned bronze medals: Kassidy Hanson (Expository), Sophie Perez (Moments in History), Nora Boles (Oratory), and Tylar Whaley (Prose). Team awards will be announced on Monday, May 6.
