The Prescott High School Speech Team competed at the Ellsworth High School Invitational on Feb. 17. In a field of 12 schools, Prescott came in third place, missing second by only one point. The team had 11 students win individual awards.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was Sophia Kapsh, the tournament champion in Farrago with a perfect tournament and Grace Ryan, the tournament champion in Impromptu and second place in Oratory.
Also placing for the Cardinals were: Hunter Dearborn (fifth in Expository), Abby Stubbe (fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking and second in Moments in History), Katie Huppert (fourth in Impromptu and fourth in Special Occasion), Owen Henderson (second in Prose), Max Dearborn (third in Radio Speaking), Allie Tibayan (fifth in Moments in History), Emma Schmitz (third in Oratory), and Rory Zuehlsdorf (fifth in Special Occasion).
Also competing for the Cardinals was Kyra Dix (Expository), Kassidy Hanson (Expository), Kendra and MaKenna Ogilvie (Group Interpretation), Sage Brock and Riley Renteria (Group Interpretation), Alissa Zerneke and Camryn Rickers (Group Interpretation), Mack Eggers (Impromptu), Tylar Whaley (Prose), Andaria Henderson (Prose), Sophie Perez (Moments in History), and Cara Fiedler (Special Occasion). The team ended their regular season and will start their bid for State at the Subdistrict competition on Feb. 24 in Hudson.
