Pierce Co. DA visits Spring Valley eighth graders

Posted

SPRING VALLEY – Pierce County District Attorney Hallie Hatch visited Mrs. Jessica Shafer’s eighth grade social studies classes on Thursday, Sept.24, to speak with students about the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the role of a district attorney.

As part of their current studies, students have been learning about the rights and freedoms protected by the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Hatch provided students with an opportunity to connect what they have been learning in the classroom to real-world situations and experiences from her work in the legal system.

The students came prepared with thoughtful questions and were able to learn firsthand how the law applies to situations they may encounter outside of the classroom. The discussion gave students a better understanding of the court system, the rights of individuals, and the responsibilities of those who work within the legal system.

It was a valuable and engaging experience for the students and provided a meaningful connection between their classroom learning and the real world.
