Reports Officers responded at 7:38 a.m. Oct. 18 to a one-vehicle crash in front of N4773 US Highway 63 one-third mile south of 490th Avenue in the town of Trimbelle. A 2019 Dodge Caravan, driven by William C. Stiedemann,

79, Boyceville, was traveling northbound on Highway 63 when it veered across the center line and into the ditch, where it struck a driveway. The vehicle went airborne and landed in the ditch. Stiedemann said he fell asleep. He wore a seat belt and was transported to a Minnesota hospital with suspected serious injuries. His vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Police responded to a hit and run crash at 8:04 p.m. Oct. 18 at 750th Avenue and 450th Street in the town of Gilman. An unknown vehicle had been traveling northbound on 450th Street, ran the stop sign at 770th Avenue and struck the guardrail, where it entered the north ditch. The vehicle also struck an arrow sign and post. It appeared the vehicle had been pulled out of the ditch and no debris was left behind.

Officers responded at 12:20 a.m. Oct. 19 to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 65 one-third mile south of Highway 29 in the town of River Falls. A 2008 Hyundai Tiburon, driven by Damien Thomas Sponsler, 16, River Falls, entered the west ditch of Highway 65 from 945th Street, jumped the highway and landed in the east ditch. Sponsler had been traveling at speeds around 100 mph in a police pursuit. He wore no seat belt but reported no injuries. The vehicle was towed after Sponsler was arrested for vehicle operator flee/ elude officer, speeding an fail/stop at stop sign.

Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 2:48 a.m. Oct. 23 on US Highway 63 one-quarter mile north of 825th Street in the town of Trenton. A 2013 Ford Fusion, driven by Kevin James Lorusso, 28, Red Wing, Minn., was heading north on Highway 63 when it left the roadway and landed in the eastern ditch. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Lorusso, wore a seat belt, was transported by ambulance to a Minnesota hospital with possible injuries. He was cited for OWI, and failure to keep vehicle under control.

Officers were notified of a vehicle vs. deer crash at 7:51 a.m. Oct. 25 that had occurred on Highway 35 onethird mile east of 1150th Street in the Town of Oak Grove. A 2021 Honda Accord, driven by Amy Kristine Kohrs Alkire, 45, Lake City, Minn., struck the deer. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Alkire wore a seat belt and reported no injuries.

Police responded at 12:16 p.m. Oct. 25 to a two-vehicle crash in front of N6333 1323rd St. in the town of Clifton between a 2014 GMC Savana, driven by Carlos Norberto Ortega Gomez, 27, Minneapolis, and a legally parked 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, owned by Anderson Heating LLC, Houlton. Gomez was making a right-hand turn out of a driveway and struck the driver’s side of the Silverado, which was parked facing south on 1323rd Street. Both vehicles had functional damage. Gomez wore a seat belt and reported no injuries.

Officers responded at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 26 to a vehicle vs. calf crash on 750th Street about one-half mile north of 410th Avenue in the town of Trimbelle. A 2017 Ford F350, driven by Chad Alan Peterson, 47, Bay City, was traveling southbound on 750th Street when it struck a calf with the right front bumper. The truck had minor damage. Peterson was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries.
