Deputies responded at 1:22 p.m. July 2 to a vehicle vs. garage door crash on 754th Avenue in the town of Clifton. A 2013 Chevy Silverado, driven by Richard Emil Hanzel, 64, Red Wing, Minn., reversed to get out of a home’s driveway and struck the garage door. The vehicle had minor damage. No injuries were reported.
Police were dispatched at 2:58 a.m. July 4 to a two-vehicle crash at N1620 County Road VV in the town of Trenton between a 2018 Dodge Durango, driven by Austin Reginald Denzer, 24, Red Wing, Minn., and a 2015 Dodge Dart, driven by Andrew John Larson, 43, River Falls. Denzer was leaving the establishment’s parking lot when Larson struck his passenger side at a low speed. Both vehicles had minor damage. No injuries were reported. Larson was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.
Officers were notified of a one-vehicle crash at 7:27 a.m. July 4 that occurred at 4 a.m. on Highway 128 just south of County Road B in the town of Spring Lake. A 2008 Pontiac, driven by Karlee Rae Lange, 18, Elmwood, was heading south on 128 when it went off the shoulder. Lange overcorrected, spun in the roadway and slid into the western ditch. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Lange and passenger Sophia Rose Morgan, 16, Elmwood, reported no injuries. Lange was cited for operate motor vehicle without insurance and failure of operator to notify police of accident.
Deputies were called at 12:11 a.m. July 6 to a two-vehicle crash on County Road V just west of 590th Street in the town of Hartland between a 2005 Toyota Corolla, driven by Zachary John Shaleen, 29, Ellsworth, and a Gehl Skidsteer, driven by Thomas Robert Webster, 27, Ellsworth. Shaleen rear-ended Webster while both were heading eastbound on County Road V. Shaleen reported suspected minor injuries while Webster reported possible injuries; neither man was transported. The Toyota was towed due to disabling damage while the Skidsteer had minor damage.
Officers responded at 11:26 a.m. July 12 to a two-vehicle crash at County Road E and 570th Avenue in the town of Oak Grove between a 2008 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Robyn Amy Smith, 18, Prescott, and a 2016 Subaru Forester, driven by Ella Witt Schultz, 23, River Falls. Smith was heading north on County Road E, while Schultz was driving east on 570th Avenue. She slowed for a stop sign and proceeded into the intersection, where she struck Smith’s vehicle, causing it to spin around. The Toyota was towed due to disabling damage, while the Subaru had functional damage. No injuries were reported by either driver or Smith’s passenger, a 15-year-old juvenile. Schultz was cited for failure to yield right of way.
At 12:01 p.m. July 13, a 2008 Pontiac Vibe, driven by Timothy James Pinkowski, 60, Fort Collins, Colo., struck a deer on County Road BB one-third of a mile south of Highway 29 in the town of Gilman. The vehicle had minor damage. Pinkowski reported no injuries.
At 12:01 p.m. July 13, a 2015 Harley Davidson Electra GL, operated by Thomas Charles Maes, 65, Glenwood City, struck a deer on County Road BB just south of Highway 29 in the town of Gilman. Maes, who wore a half helmet, reported no injuries. The bike had minor damage.
Deputies were dispatched at 8:56 p.m. July 15 to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 63 just north of 850th Avenue in the town of Martell between a 2005 Audi Allroad, driven by Rebecca Lynn Reed, 49, Spring Valley, and a 2004 GMC Sierra pulling a utility trailer, driven by Brian David Hinrichs, 45, Wanamingo, Minn. Reed, who was heading southbound on Highway 63, began turning left onto 850th Avenue. Hinrichs, who was behind her, began passing on the left, struck her driver’s side, lost control and went into the east ditch, where it overturned. The Audi had minor damage while the GMC was towed due to disabling damage. Reed reported possible injuries but wasn’t transported. Hinrichs and his passenger, David Steven Hinrichs, 70, Zumbrota, Minn., reported no injuries.
Police were called at 2:02 p.m. July 16 to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 35 just south of County Road E in the town of Oak Grove between a 2015 BMW X5, driven by Malisa Elizabeth Jennrich, 25, Bay City, and a 2004 Honda CRV, driven by Steven David Sieckert, 68, Hager City. Sieckert was heading south on Highway 35 with Jennrich behind him. While going around a curve, Sieckert said he braked, at which point Jennrich rear-ended him. Jennrich said she didn’t see any brake lights and was listening to music on her way to work. The BMW had functional damage while the Honda had minor damage. No injuries were reported.
Officers responded at 9:54 a.m. July 17 to a one-vehicle crash on County Road W just north of 740th Avenue in the town of River Falls. A 2013 Victory Vision, driven by Donald John Long, 48, New Richmond, was heading south on W when a deer ran out in front of him. Long struck the deer, the bike went into a skid and went into a ditch and yard. The driver skidded down the road where he remained until police arrived. He was wearing a helmet. EMS transported him to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with suspected serious injuries while his motorcycle was towed due to disabling damage.
Police were called at 11:45 p.m. July 17 to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 63 just north of County Road KK in the town of Trimbelle. A 2009 Ford Focus, driven by Giovanni Amari Wilson, 21, Menomonie, was traveling north on Highway 63 when the vehicle had an equipment failure. He drove onto the shoulder of the road, overcorrected, and drove down into a ditch, where it rolled. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Law enforcement transported Wilson to an unlisted facility with possible injuries.
Deputies were dispatched at 6:04 p.m. July 18 to a two-vehicle crash at highways 63 and 35 in the town of Trenton between a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Howard Lawrence Hoffman, 73, Hudson, and a 2017 Ford Transit van, driven by Mark Bradley Boesch, 72, Plymouth, Minn. Hoffman, who had been stopped at the intersection, proceeded into the intersection to make a left turn, while Boesch failed to yield the right of way and struck him. The Jeep was towed due to disabling damage while the van had functional damage. Neither man reported injuries. Boesch was cited for failure to yield right of way.
Police were dispatched at 8:44 a.m. July 21 to a hit and run on County Road O eight-tenths of a mile south of Highway 65 in the town of River Falls. A 2020 KW Construction straight truck, driven by Timothy James Lamm, 64, Eau Galle, was heading northbound on County Road O entering a left curve, while an unknown semi-truck/trailer was heading south on County Road O. The semi crossed the centerline and side-swiped Lamm, hitting mirror to mirror. Lamm’s mirror was pushed back so far it broke the driver’s window, sending glass into Lamm’s face, causing minor injury. He was not transported. The other driver left the scene without stopping. Lamm’s vehicle had functional damage.
Officers were called at 7:29 a.m. July 25 to a two-vehicle crash at Pine Avenue and Main Street in Plum City. A 2019 Chevy Trax, driven by Kyrie Leigh Edwards, 39, Plum City, was heading east in a parking lot and turning right to go southbound when it struck a county road sign, knocking it down. The vehicle had minor damage. No injuries were reported.
Deputies responded at 8:40 a.m. July 27 to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 35 four-tenths-of-a-mile west of County Road A in the town of Maiden Rock. A 2004 Subaru Legacy, driven by Peyton Daniel Anderson, 23, Maiden Rock, was traveling southbound when Anderson fell asleep, veered of the road and rolled over. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Anderson reported possible injuries but wasn’t transported.
Officers were called at 7:09 a.m. July 29 to a one-vehicle crash on County Road A just north of 385th Street in the town of Salem. A 2014 Ford Edge, driven by Cayman Duane Anderson, 16, Maiden Rock, was traveling northbound on County Road A when he came upon a tree laying the road. He attempted to move around the tree lost control, entered the east ditch and got stuck. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Anderson reported no injuries.
Deputies were called at 11:48 p.m. July 30 to a one-vehicle crash at highways 10 and 63 in the town of Ellsworth. A 2020 Ford F350, driven by Luis Angel Contreras, 28, Cottage Grove, Minn., was heading north on Highway 10. He disregarded the stop sign, entered the north ditch, and drove into a soybean field. His trailer jackknifed and the vehicle came to a stop. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Contreras was not injured but he was arrested for OWI, operating with PAC and unsafe lane deviation.
Police responded at 3:59 p.m. July 31 to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 72 just east of 430th Street in the town of El Paso between a 2017 Ford Fusion, driven by Bonnie Barbara Webb, 60, Elmwood, and a 2006 Chevy Silverado, driven by Dawne Laurene Davis, 87, Prescott. Webb said she was following Davis, who started pulling off to the right of the road, at which point she attempted to pass her on the left. Instead, Davis turned left toward a driveway and ran into Webb. Webb said David did not have a turn signal activated, while Davis said she did. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. EMS transported Webb to River Falls Area Hospital with possible injuries. Davis reported no injuries.
Deputies were called at 4:44 p.m. Aug. 1 to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 63 just south of the High Bridge between a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Nathan Michael McRoberts, 20, Hager city, and a 2025 Mazda CX-90, driven by Carlie Marze Bowen, 32, Hager City. Bowen was heading north over the High Bridge with McRoberts behind her. There was a backup on the bridge and when she slowed for it, McRoberts rear-ended Bowen’s vehicle. McRoberts said he looked down at the radio and tried to hit the brakes when he saw brake lights in front of him but was unable to stop in time. Both vehicles had minor damage. Neither driver nor Bowen’s two passengers, Wendy Jo Hillman, 53, Ellsworth, and a 3-year-old child reported injuries.
Police responded at 10:01 a.m. Aug. 2 to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 72 just west of 515th Street in the town of Ellsworth. A 2007 Ford F150, driven by Karl David Frank, 58, River Falls, was heading west on Highway 72 hauling a trailer with a tractor on it. When coming down a hill with a bridge, the bumps at the bottom of the bridge caused the trailer to sway and start to fish tail. Frank attempted to correct the vehicle, but the truck and trailer spun around, entered the ditch backwards on the road’s north side, rolled onto their sides and the tractor came off the trailer. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Frank and passenger William Emmanuel Andrle, 58, River Falls, reported no injuries.
Deputies were called at 5:19 p.m. to a motorcycle crash that occurred at 3 a.m. Aug. 4 on County Road QQ just north of 570th Avenue in the town of Oak Grove. A 2013 Suzuki SV650, operated by Dillon Taylor Nolan, 26, Chatfield, Minn., was traveling south on QQ when it drove into the ditch. The motorcycle had minor damage. Nolan, who was wearing a helmet, went to Olmstead Medical Center in Rochester, Minn. with suspected minor injuries. He was cited for operate without valid license and operating motor vehicle without proof of insurance.
Officers were dispatched at 1:14 a.m. Aug. 6 to a single-vehicle crash on County Road J just north of County Road N in the town of Martell. A 2008 Chevy Impala, driven by Brandon Keith Kulpa, 19, Beldenville, was traveling northbound on County Road J when it struck a deer, drove into the ditch, struck a culvert and drove into a fence. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Kulpa reported no injuries.
Deputies were notified of a hit and run at 8:27 a.m. Aug. 6 at Highway 35 and County Road C in the town of Trenton. An unknown vehicle heading south on C drove over the curb onto the grass area, struck the stop sign and fled the scene.
Police responded at 9:46 p.m. Aug. 9 to a two-vehicle crash at Highway 65 and County Road J in the town of Ellsworth between a 2022 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Emily Rebecca Olson Sparling, 40, River Falls, and a 2009 Ford F150, driven by Donald Bliven Martinson, 66, Hager City. Sparling was traveling northbound on Highway 65 while Martinson was heading southbound on County Road J. He didn’t stop at the stop sign and began to turn left. When he saw Sparling’s oncoming vehicle, he turned the wheel to the right and struck Sparling’s driver’s side. Sparling’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage, while Martinson’s truck had functional damage. Neither driver reported injuries, but Sparling had five passengers with her. Michael David Sparling, 45, River Falls, and an 11-year-old juvenile were transported via private vehicle to River Falls Area Hospital with possible injuries. Three other juveniles, ages 10, 8 and 9, reported no injuries. Martinson was cited for fail/stop at stop sign.
Deputies were dispatched at 11:14 p.m. Aug. 9 to a one-vehicle crash on 1060th Street just south of 660th Avenue in the town of Clifton. A 2011 BMW 535, driven by Henry David Hovland, 16, River Falls, was heading southbound on 1060th when it attempted to negotiate a right-hand curve in foggy weather. He failed to negotiate the curve, crossed the centerline and entered the eastern ditch, where the vehicle traveled about 25 yards before striking a tree. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Hovland and passengers Alexander Robert Vogler, 16, River Falls, and Landyn Leroy Muhlhausen-Kempt, 16, River Falls, reported no injuries.
Officers were dispatched at 3:16 p.m. Aug. 10 to a hit and run on 610th Street just south of County Road J in the town of Martell. An unknown vehicle heading northbound had driven in to the grass while turning east onto J and knocked over the top sign, snapping it off at the post.
Deputies responded at 4:49 p.m. Aug. 12 to a two-vehicle crash on private property at W7096 320th Ave. in the town of Hartland between a 2011 Chrysler Town & Country, driven by Sam Lancer Christikawa, 38, Ellsworth, and a legally parked 2019 Toyota Camry, owned by Rachel Nichole Schroepfer, Ellsworth. Christikawa, a mail carrier, was leaving the property and while backing up, tried to swing far enough to miss Schroepfer’s vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, but ended up striking the front driver’s side quarter panel. The van had minor damage while the Camry had functional damage. No injuries were reported.
At 6:18 a.m. Aug. 14, police were notified that a 2004 Lincoln Aviator, operated by Perla L. Herrada, 22, Wheeler, had crashed into a building at 5:22 a.m. at 116 N. Scott St. in Elmwood. Herrada had parked her vehicle at Cenex and gone inside. She left the vehicle in gear, which then rolled through the parking lot down a hill and into a building. Her husband arrived on the scene and said he had been driving, but he wasn’t. The vehicle had minor damage. Herrada was cited for operate without valid license.
Police were called at 10:17 p.m. Aug. 14 to a train vs. vehicle crash at Highway 35 and County Road K. A 2020 Chevy Malibu, driven by Robert Daniel Horacek, 45, Zimmerman, Minn., left the road and became stuck in the gravel, where it was struck by a railway train. Officers transported Horacek to River Falls Area Hospital to be checked out. The train’s occupants, Alex Joel Lindahl, 29, La Crosse, and Mark Earl Prom, 67, La Crosse, reported no injuries. Horacek was arrested for OWI-second and possess open intoxicants in motor vehicle – driver. His vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. The train had minor damage.
