Friday, Nov. 14

Police were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 8:24 p.m. on Highway 65 one-third of a mile south of County Road J in the town of Ellsworth. A 2010 Subaru Forester, driven by Roman James Serbesku, 34, Ellsworth, was traveling northbound, crossed into oncoming traffic, overcorrected, drove off the roadway into the east ditch, struck a street sign and overturned. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. EMS transported Serbesku to River Falls Area Hospital with possible injuries. He was arrested for OWI, possess open intoxicants in motor vehicle – driver and failure to keep vehicle under control.

Wednesday, Nov. 19

Deputies were called at 8:20 p.m. to a hit and run that occurred at 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of 403 Wasson Court in River Falls. A 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Victor A. Gualan Contento, 41, River Falls, backed out of a parking spot and struck a legally parked 2022 Ram 1500, owned by Matthew E. Miller, River Falls. He fled the scene, but police tracked him down at his residence, where he was arrested for OWI-third, operating while revoked (alcohol related), ignition interlock device tampering/failure to install/violate court order, failure of operator to notify police of accident and hit and run – unattended vehicle. Both vehicles had moderate damage. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday, Nov. 26

Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 11:50 a.m. on Highway 29 1/3 of a mile west of County Road QQ in the town of Clifton between a 2009 Honda Civic, driven by Zachary Dylan Mowen, 24, River Falls, and a 2018 Ford F150, driven by Roald John Hildebrandt, 70, Prescott. Mowen was going east on Highway 29, while Hildebrandt was heading west. Mowen hit an icy spot, lost control and spun out. He crossed the center line and struck the front of Hildebrandt’s Ford before landing in the northern ditch, where he struck a tree. The Honda was towed due to disabling damage. The Ford had minor damage. Neither driver reported injuries.

Friday, Nov. 28

Police were called to a one-vehicle crash at 7:43 p.m. on Pierce/St. Croix Road about one-half mile west of County Road B in the town of Gilman. A 2005 Ford Excursion, driven by Jackson James Angelo Freshwater, 18, Woodville, was heading west when he lost control, crossed the center line, entered the south ditch and struck a tree. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Freshwater reported no injuries; he was cited for OWI, underage person transport intoxicants in motor vehicle and failure to keep vehicle under control.

Saturday, Nov. 29

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:01 p.m. on Highway 63 just north of 570th Street in the town of Martell between a 2014 Ram 1500, driven by Carmelo Aranda Riel, 65, Ellsworth, and a 2013 Toyota Camry, driven by Araceli Quintero Molina, 58, Red Wing, Minn. Riel was heading north on Highway 63 while Quintero was heading south. Quintero lost control after hitting some ice, began to spin, crossed the centerline and struck Riel as he was going backwards. Both vehicles had minor damage. Molina, Riel nor Riel’s passenger, Julie Ann Kowalczuk-Riel, 66, Ellsworth, reported any injuries.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:43 p.m. at Highway 63 and County Road V in the town of Trenton between a 2001 GMC 1500, driven by Alexander Scott Baillargeon, 31, Elmwood, and a 2013 Toyota Camry, driven by Araceli Quintero Molina, 58, Red Wing, Minn. Baillargeon was traveling northbound on Highway 63 with the right turn lamp on. Molina was facing west and starting a left turn at the County Road V/Highway 63 intersection. Baillargeon braked but was not able to stop the vehicle and collided with Molina’s driver’s side door in the intersection. The GMC had minor damage while the Toyota was towed due to disabling damage. Baillargeon reported no injuries but was cited operate without valid license (second within three years) and operate motor vehicle without insurance. EMS transported Molina to a Minnesota hospital with suspected minor injuries.

Deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 3:03 p.m. on 1200th Street just south of 526th Avenue in the town of Oak Grove. A 2024 Honda Prologue, driven by Jonathan Thomas Etter, 51, Prescott, was heading southbound, lost control on the snow and ice-covered road, slid off the road and collided with trees on the southern edge. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Etter nor passengers Michelle Lynn Etter, 51, Prescott, and Owen Thomas Etter, 18, Prescott, reported injuries.

Officers were called at 3:12 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash on 1240th Street just north of Highway 35 in the town of Oak Grove between a 2015 Ford F150, driven by Lawrence Taylor Byrne, 16, Red Wing, Minn., and a 2020 Ford F350, driven by Kurt Francis Bobick, 63, Cottage Grove, Minn. Byrne was heading south on 1240th Street, while Bobick was heading north. Bobick stopped after seeing Byrne sliding down a hill and right-hand curve. Byrne slid about 100 feet before crossing the center line, striking Bobick. Bobick then went off the shoulder into the ditch while Byrne continued to slide downhill. Byrne’s vehicle had no damage. Bobick’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Neither driver nor Bobick’s passenger, Janet Frances Lee Bobick, 61, Cottage Grove, Minn., reported injuries.

Deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 6:22 p.m. at Highway 72 and County Road BB in the town of El Paso. A 2019 Toyota Rav4, driven by Jose Luis Flores Casiano, 54, St. Paul, was going east on County Road BB down a hill. He attempted to stop for the stop sign, slid on the icy road and collided with the guardrail on the south side of Highway 72. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Casiano reported no injuries.

Tuesday, Dec. 2

Police were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 11:43 p.m. on Highway 29 a half mile west of 770th Street in the town of River Falls. A 2005 Saturn Vue, driven by Torrance James Lee, 54, Hudson, was heading east on Highway 29, swerved to miss a deer, lost control on the ice and snow and struck a guardrail. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Lee reported no injuries.

Wednesday, Dec. 3

Deputies were called at 1:10 a.m. to a one-vehicle rollover on Highway 65 one-third of a mile west of 820th Street in the town of River Falls. A 2008 Toyota Rav4, driven by Gabriel Michael Hove-Cernohous, 19, River Falls, was traveling south when it lost control, crossed the center line, went into the ditch, struck a driveway and overturned. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Hove-Cernohous and passenger Logan Bradley Krumenauer, 20, Ellsworth, reported no injuries. EMS transported passenger Tucker Matthew Wicklund, 17, River Falls, to River Falls Area Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Hove-Cernohous was arrested for OWI/cause injury.

Officers were dispatched at 7:47 a.m. to a one-vehicle crash on County Road UU just west of 100th Avenue in the town of Maiden Rock. A 2021 Chevy Traverse, driven by Timothy James Peterson, 16, Pepin, was traveling north on County Road UU, failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, went off the road to the left and struck a tree. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Peterson reported no injuries.

Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 10:41 a.m. on County Road DD just south of 410th Avenue in the town of Ellsworth. A 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by Landon Dillon Allie, 19, Ellsworth, was traveling southbound on County Road DD. He tried to right onto 410th, lost control. Went off the road to the left and struck a stop sign. The vehicle had minor damage. Allie reported no injuries.

Thursday, Dec. 4

Police were called to a one-vehicle crash at 3:51 p.m. on County Road W 4/10 of a mile south of 855th Avenue in the town of River Falls. A 2007 Honda Fit, driven by Joshua James Betts, 19, River Falls, was traveling southbound when he lost control, entered the west ditch and rolled multiple times. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Betts reported no injuries.

Friday, Dec. 5

Deputies were called at 6:05 p.m. to a one-vehicle crash on 570th Avenue just east of 1170th Street in the town of Oak Grove. A 2007 Toyota Camry, driven by Jose Gabriel Santana Caraballo, 25, South St. Paul, Minn., was attempting to negotiate a curve heading eastbound, entered the north ditch, struck a sign and came to a rest. The vehicle had moderate damage. Neither Carabello nor passenger Albelis Michelle Rodrigo Tejada, 27, South St. Paul, Minn., reported injuries.

Saturday, Dec. 6

Police were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 10:22 a.m. on Highway 29 about one-half mile west of County Road BB in the town of Gilman. A 2018 Chevy Traverse, driven by Krystle Rae Holt, 40, Hager City, was heading east on Highway 29, lost control and began to slide into the south ditch. She traveled about 75 yards, crossed a driveway and ran into a fence post. She continued for another 25 yards before coming to a rest. The vehicle had moderate damage. Holt reported no injuries.

Sunday, Dec. 7

Officers were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 9:38 a.m. on County Road F just south of County Road M in the town of Clifton. An unknown vehicle heading south lost control, spun around, crossed the center line and struck a power pole, breaking it off. The vehicle continued southbound in the ditch, where it struck a private vineyard sign, reentered the roadway and fled the scene. The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m.

Police were called at 12:33 p.m. to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 35 just west of 1050th Street in the town of Oak Grove. A 2014 Honda Ridgeline, driven by Sherry Lynn Berhow, 61, La Crescent, Minn., was traveling north on Highway 35, lost control on ice and entered the north ditch. She went across a culvert and driveway before going into the ditch. The vehicle had no damage. Berhow reported no injuries.

Monday, Dec. 8

Police were called to a one-vehicle crash at 10 a.m. on Highway 35 1/3 of a mile east of 530th Street in the town of Isabelle. A 2014 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Jordyn Jane Bach, 19, Bay City, was traveling northbound on Highway 35 just south of County Road D when it spun out, lost control and collided with a guardrail face. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Bach reported no injuries.

Police were dispatched at 12:21 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 72 just east of 430th Street in the town of El Paso between a 2018 Kia Forte, driven by Shannon Marie Perez, 55, Ellsworth, and a 2023 Ram Promaster, driven by Todd W. Theiste, 54, Eau Claire. Perez was leaving a driveway and failed to yield to Theiste, who was traveling eastbound on Highway 72. He tried to swerve out of the way but the two collided. The Kia was towed due to disabling damage, while the Promaster had functional damage. Neither driver nor Perez’s passenger, Gloria Helen Perez, 86, Ellsworth, reported injuries.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 5:04 p.m. on County Road O just south of 650th Avenue in the town of River Falls between a 2018 Chevy Traverse, driven by Margaret Anne Pechacek, 17, Ellsworth, and a 2021 Kenworth dump truck, driven by Dana Gene Glor, 54, Ellsworth. Pechacek was heading south on County Road O and was slowing down for a deer in the road when dump truck bumped into the Chevy’s rear-end. The Chevy had minor damage, while the dump truck had none. Neither driver nor Pechacek’s passenger, Lillian Maria Rewolinski, 18, Ellsworth, reported injuries.

Tuesday, Dec. 9

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 4:10 p.m. on Highway 29 4/10 of a mile south of County Road MM in the town of Clifton. A 2006 Honda Civic, driven by Poobanaa Selvam, 22, Lakeville, Minn., was traveling west on Highway 29 going about 50 mph on the snow-covered road. She lost control, entered the north ditch and struck a mailbox before getting stuck. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Selvam reported no injuries.

Deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle rollover at 4:45 p.m. on 380th Street just north of 375th Street in the town of Maiden Rock. A 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Kyle Robert Swanson, 26, Red Wing, Minn., was traveling southbound negotiating a curve downhill. He lost control on the snow-covered road, hit the west ditch and overturned into a ravine. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. EMS transported Swanson to a Minnesota hospital with suspected minor injuries. They transported passenger Bobbi Jo Swanson, 54, Bellechester, Minn., to a Minnesota hospital with suspected serious injuries.

Officers responded at 5:26 p.m. to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 63 just east of 801st Avenue in the town of Martell. A 2009 Mercedes R32, driven by Michael Patrick Rappe, 77, Roberts, was heading north on Highway 63 when he lost control, entered the right shoulder, struck a guardrail end and came to a stop on the snow-covered road. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Rappe reported suspected minor injuries but was not transported. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Police were called at 7:53 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 63 just south of 825th Street in the town of Trenton between a 2014 Nissan Altima, driven by Jerry Samuel Tyson, 73, Red Wing, Minn., and a 2018 Chevy Cruze, driven by Allison Ann Freund, 36, Hager City. Tyson was heading south on Highway 63, driving left of center. Freund was heading southbound in the same area and saw Tyson coming straight at her in her lane. She swerved to the left into a snowbank to avoid a crash, dropped off the west shoulder and Tyson struck her right side. Both vehicles spun and came to rest in their opposite traffic lanes. Both had to be towed due to disabling damage. Tyson and his passenger, Darla Jean Llewellyn, 70, Red Wing, Minn., reported no injuries. Tyson was cited for OWI and operating left of center. Freund reported no injuries.

Wednesday, Dec. 10

Police were called to a one-vehicle crash at 3:21 a.m. near the Kinnickinnic River in Clifton Hollow on County Road F in the town of Clifton. A 2022 Mack Anthem semi-truck/tractor, driven by Tyrone Lyvon Williams, 62, Fate, Texas, was traveling south into the hollow on County Road F when he lost control on the ice and snow, struck two separate sections of guardrail and went into the ditch, where he struck a tree and came to rest on his driver’s side. The truck was towed due to disabling damage. Williams reported no injuries.

Saturday, Dec. 13

Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 9:10 a.m. in the parking lot of Spring Valley Middle/High School (S1450 County Road CC, Spring Valley). A 2011 Ford F150, driven by Christian Bourget, 42, Elk Mound, was backing from its parking stall and didn’t see a 2018 Chevy Suburban, driven by David Gene Skallet Jr., 40, Osseo, traveling eastbound through the parking lot row. Skallet stopped when he saw Bourget backing up, but Bourget backed into his front passenger side bumper, causing minor damage to both vehicles. Bourget and his 9-year-old female juvenile passenger reported no injuries. Skallet and his four passengers, Kayla Marie Hoffstatter, 33, Osseo; a 5-year-old male juvenile; a 3-year-old male juvenile, and a 9-year-old female juvenile reported no injuries.

Monday, Dec. 15

Deputies were dispatched at 6:51 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 29 just east of County Road I between a 2011 Ford Explorer, driven by Kevin Duane Crandall, 44, Spring Valley, and a 2016 Ford Escape, driven by Kylie Lianna Axtell, 25, New Richmond. Crandall was heading east on Highway 29 when Axtell turned left from County Road I. Crandall couldn’t stop in time and attempted to swerve to avoid Axtell. He struck her rear passenger side, then hit a guardrail and overturned in the north ditch. Crandall’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage, while Axtell’s vehicle had minor damage. Neither driver reported injuries. Crandall was cited for vehicle operator fail/wear seat belt. Axtell was cited for fail/yield right/way from stop sign.

Tuesday, Dec. 16

Police were notified of a vehicle vs. airplane crash at 2:35 p.m. at the Red Wing Airport (W7145 148th Ave., town of Isabelle). A 2012 Chevy Silverado, driven by David Alan Bunch, 84, Beldenville, was driving in the parking lot (he’s an employee) heading westbound. Bunch said he was blinded by the sun, which caused him to strike an unmanned 2000 Vans 6A airplane, owned by Timothy Doak Porter, St. Cloud, Minn., with a snowplow on the front of his truck. The truck had no damage, while the plane had moderate damage. No injuries were reported.

Thursday, Dec. 18

Officers were called at 3:35 p.m. to a one-vehicle rollover on Highway 35 one-third of a mile south of 370th Avenue in the town of Diamond Bluff. A 2006 Buick Rendezvous, driven by Jason Eric MacDonald, 45, Red Wing, Minn., was traveling south on Highway 35 when it lost traction while braking on the snow/ice while going downhill, spun sideways, veered into the west ditch, where it overturned onto its driver’s side. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. MacDonald reported no injuries.

Saturday, Dec. 20

Police were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 5:02 a.m. on Highway 63 just south of 825th Street in the town of Trenton. A 2011 Ford Focus, driven by Zachary Taylor Lorentz, 23, Red Wing, Minn., was traveling south on Highway 63 when it started to veer toward the right. It left the road, struck a guardrail on the west side of the highway near the High Bridge, and went into the ditch. It came to a rest down in the ditch near 825th Street. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Lorentz reported suspected minor injuries but wasn’t transported. He was cited for OWI.

Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 11:50 a.m. at Highway 29 and County Road I in the town of Gilman between a 2015 Kia Forte, driven by Reed Isaiah Kaliher, 30, Chanhassen, Minn., and a 2022 Ford Escape, driven by Terrance Lee Traynor, 74, River Falls. Kaliher was heading south on County Road I, while Traynor was driving west on Highway 29. Kaliher ran a stop sign and drove into the intersection, where the two vehicles collided. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Kaliher and his passenger, Joanne Joyce Bethke, 80, Chanhassen, Minn., were transported by EMS with suspected minor injuries to Western Wisconsin Health in Baldwin. EMS transported Traynor and his passenger, Linda Marie Traynor, 73, River Falls, to River Falls Area Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Kaliher was cited for failure to obey traffic signal.

Monday, Dec. 22

Officers responded at 8:11 a.m. to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 35 one-third of a mile east of County Road EE in the town of Isabelle. A 2012 Chevy Malibu, driven by Trichelle Jade Smaller, 19, Plum City, was traveling northbound on Highway 35 when it lost control on the icy road while negotiating downhill. It fishtailed before colliding with a guardrail face on the road’s south side. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Smaller reported no injuries.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 24

Officers were called to a two-vehicle crash at 2:03 a.m. on Highway 65 one-quarter mile north of 920th Street in the town of River Falls between a 2012 Ford Focus, driven by Samuel John Rixmann, 22, River Falls, and a 2023 Ford F150, driven by Brandon Michael Hoikka, 42, River Falls. Rixmann was heading south on Highway 65 and Hoikka was traveling north. Hoikka crossed the centerline, so Rixmann swerved to miss him and went into the northbound lane. Hoikka overcorrected, went back into the northbound lane and struck Rixmann. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Neither driver reported injuries, but both were arrested for OWI and taken to Pierce County Jail.

Sunday, Dec. 28

Deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 11:53 a.m. on Highway 63 just south of 290th Avenue in the town of Trenton. A 2007 Chevy Silverado, driven by Lance John Neeley, 21, Ellsworth, was traveling southbound on Highway 63 when it lost control on the slushy road, fish tailed, veered off the road and into the east ditch. A 2019 Chevy Silverado, driven by Isaiah Joseph Huppert, 41, Pepin, was traveling northbound on Highway 63 when he saw Neeley losing control. He veered toward the east ditch to avoid a head-on collision. As Huppert went into the ditch, Neeley’s vehicle slid backwards into the ditch and collided with his. The 2007 Chevy was towed due to disabling damage, while the 2019 Chevy had moderate damage. Neither driver nor Neeley’s passenger, Desirae Jean Peterson, 23, Beldenville, reported injuries.

Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 1:17 p.m. on County Road F just south of 820th Avenue in the town of Clifton. A 2006 Dodge R15, driven by Daniel Jason Quade, 55, Hampton, Minn., was heading north on County Road F around a curve when it lost control, hit a guardrail, took out the guardrail end and stopped. The driver left the scene before police arrived, though he called the crash in. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Neither Quade nor his passenger, Chester Kenneth Quade, 18, Nickerson, Minn., reported injuries.

Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 1:45 p.m. at Public Avenue/County Road P and Center Street in Elmwood. A 1998 Wstr Convention Tanker truck, driven by Lonnie John Kopp, 52, Maiden Rock, was heading north on County Road P, lost control while heading downhill on the snow packed road and veered into the west ditch, where he hit a pine tree and overturned onto the driver’s side in the yard at 107 W. Shaw. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Kopp reported no injuries.

Tuesday, Dec. 30

Officers were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 3:28 p.m. at Highway 63 and 690th Avenue in the town of Martell. A 2013 Volvo S60, driven by Parker Christian Bruesewitz, 19, River Falls, was heading north on Highway 63, attempted to turn right onto 690th Avenue, started to slide on the snowy road, crossed the center line and entered the north ditch, where it struck a stop sign post and street signpost. The vehicle had moderate damage. Bruesewitz reported no injuries.

Thursday, Jan. 1

Police were called to a one-vehicle crash at 1:14 a.m. on County Road U just north of 145th Avenue in the town of Maiden Rock. A 2014 Cadillac ATS, driven by Jack Thomas Bechel, 18, Arkansaw, was traveling north on County Road U and snow/ice covered roads. Bechel left the road on the east side, struck a portable plastic garbage can and mailbox and came to a stop in the ditch. The vehicle had minor damage. Bechel reported no injuries; he was cited for OWI and failure to keep vehicle under control.

Friday, Jan. 2

Officers were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 8:10 p.m. on 120th Avenue one-quarter mile east of 451st Street in the town of Maiden Rock. A 2005 Ford F150, driven by Timothy John Greeley, 68, Maiden Rock, failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, struck a boulder in someone’s yard and a small tree before getting back onto the road. The vehicle had moderate damage. Greeley reported no injuries.

Saturday, Jan. 3

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at 7:50 a.m. at County Road V and 730th Street in the town of Trenton between a 2012 Chevy Malibu, driven by Zamir Terrell Hines-Smith, 33, Ellsworth, and a 2025 Chevy Colorado, driven by William James Vickers, 40, Red Wing, Minn. Hines-Smith was heading eastbound on County Road V, while Vickers was behind him. Vickers said he lost sight of Hines-Smith over a hill west of 730th Street. Hines-Smith attempted to turn left onto 730th Street but had his right-turn signal on and veered toward the right, before turning left across County Road V. Vickers said he couldn’t stop in time to avoid hitting Hines-Smith’s rear end because of the icy roads. He veered left into the westbound lane to pass Hines-Smith, because he thought he was turning right. Hines-Smith said it was possible his right-turn signal was one before he turned left. The Malibu was towed due to disabling damage, while the Colorado had moderate damage. Hines-Smith reported suspected minor injuries but was not transported. Vickers and passenger Jessica Rachel Vickers, 44, Red Wing, Minn, reported no injuries.
