As we wrap up and put a bow on 2020, I am reminded of the_historical_events and efforts_ our entire staff at Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services puts in to ensure we deliver affordable and reliable electricity to our members. _ But I am also reminded of the role many of our employees and directors play in their communities._ Our employees give back to the community in many ways that go unnoticed._ We have employees who are volunteer firefighters, _ serve_ as_ athletic coaches, members of the chamber,_ serve on_ boards, and church groups._ I am thankful_for_our_employees’_ dedication to the_communities we serve, and it reminds us of one of the core cooperative principles, “Concern for Community.”_ We_ recently_ asked ourselves, are we doing enough for our communities? And the simple answer was, “No,_ we can do even more!”_In 2021, PPCS will launch a non-profit entity entitled Pierce Pepin Cares. This non-profit will allow_PPCS_to be even more active in our communities and work with community leaders to ensure_community needs are_being_met._By establishing a non-profit, we are taking the first step in having an entity that can seek funds_to_be put back into our community._ Our board of directors who are elected by cooperative members along with one staff member and a member of the community will serve on the board._ In the next several months, we will be launching an initiative that will benefit our youngest community members and we can’t wait to tell you about it_in 2021.__ Our world has_seen more divisiveness during the pandemic when we needed to work together._ Our friends and neighbors who may be struggling, may need a helping hand. Our small businesses who have struggled in many ways could you use your support._ Our children are being asked to adjust constantly when they need_consistency. __As we reflect upon the past 12 months and the uncertainty of the future, we kindly ask all of you to reflect upon your own commitment to the community and ask what you can do to make our world a better place.__ We encourage you to take a minute to support_our communities, our neighbors,_our children, and_our friends as we celebrate the holidays and ring in the_New_Year.__Thank you for allowing us at PPCS to be a part of the community and we look forward to serving you in 2021._
