Music. Everyone loves it. But everyone’s choice is different so this Monday morning we took requests! One favorite request is “Tennessee Waltz” and the second most favorite seemed to be “Red Wing”. A couple good ones we never tire of. The afternoon consisted of a few folks visiting family on the computer with others sitting outside soaking up the new spring sun. Laura delivered fresh popped corn before a game of bean bags ensued. Winners were: 4th place: Lou Seyffer. 3rd place: Rosie Schreiner, Jean McDonough. 2nd place: Milly Fredrickson. First place champ: Beryl Anderson (for the second week in a row!).
Tuesday morning we played Name That Tune as we were all scattered throughout the dining room. We tried some oldies but goodies and still stumped a few. Many folks took their turn guessing titles but our top accurate guesser was Milly Fredrickson with 27 answers, followed by Mary Ellen Coulson with 26, and Shirley Klinski with 15. The afternoon included many room visits with Jessica visiting each room and offering snacks, reading material, puzzles, and crafts. There was enough time before supper to play Pokeno; just like bingo but with playing cards. First place champ was George Komro followed by Marilyn Heath with Paul Bauer earning third place.
Our Wednesday morning began with exercise! We found our places throughout the dining room and on came the “Movers and Shakers” music. We went through our routine twice just to make sure everyone got in enough exercise with our shakers. After lunch, there were room visits, mail pass and snack deliveries. Soon after, we played bingo and everyone won a few pieces of candy or quarters and it made the afternoon pass quickly. Black out winner this week was Mary Nelson. The bingo cards and chips were washed and put away just in time for supper.
Thursday morning was filled with strikes and spares as the bowlers were the top of their game. Winners this week were: 3rd place: Alvin Bergmark. 2nd place: Milly Fredrickson, Dorene Melstrom. 1st place champ: Beryl Anderson with a perfect score! Lunch was served, mail delivered, and Jessica was soon setting up our painted flower pots, potting soil, and pansies ready to plant! What fun we had choosing colors of pansies to brighten our little corner of the world. We lovingly planted each flower and gave them all a drink before finding just the right place to set them in our rooms. There were enough leftover pansies to plant some extra to share with our friends and neighbors in our home.
Friday morning welcomed May bright and early. The sunshine welcomed it’s entrance and happy faces joined the drumming group in the dining room, six or more feet apart! All styles of music were played from marches to waltzes to polkas (the latter being our favorite). Everyone has fun with a few fancy drummers adding to the end of our songs with their drum rolls. After lunch, and the mail delivery, we were visited by Laura and the snack cart filled with snacks, beer, wine, and an assortment of sodas from which to choose for happy hour. She spent time with each of us, delivering new may calendars, and reviewing some of the upcoming events for the month. There is certainly plenty to do even though we miss our family and friends visiting “in person”.
Saturday was a celebration of Ray Burg and his birthday. He and his family generously provided cake and ice cream for everyone here (staff included)! After making sure he was able to blow out all the candles, Jessica was around with the mail, and visiting each of us. Some of our folks had window visits or “zoomed” with family. Jessica popped fresh popcorn which was delivered to each of our rooms as well as to the many folks sitting outside on the patio, soaking in the sun’s rays. . We ended the afternoon with a fun game of dart ball. Winners were: 4th place: Hazel Berger, Marlys Amdahl. 3rd place: Beryl Anderson. 2nd place: Shirley Klinski. 1st place champion: Barb Smith. On Sunday morning, everyone had a chance to worship through their particular church service on television. Later in the afternoon, Jessica offered snacks and goodies to everyone. Our afternoon ended celebrating “World Laughter Day” with jokes and giggles, telling stories and fun facts. Everyone enjoys a good laugh and it does the spirit well. We hope all your spirits are keeping well and staying positive. We will soon be beyond this so for now, keep smiling!
As she carefully filled the pot she painted, Irene Converse chose a matching pansy to plant in her pot.
Marilyn Heath shows off the two beautiful pansies in the planters she painted. Say that three times fast!
