Another Monday morning came and with it, our Monday Movers seated exercise group! Residents assembled in the dining room and followed Noel for 30 minutes of gentle stretching exercises to getmuscles warmed up after a relaxing weekend. The crowd may have been small, but everyone put in a bigeffort! After a brief break, Noel popped in acouplekaraoke CDsand led an even bigger group of folks inasing-along; we spent the rest of morning singing our hearts out to our favorite tunes! Lunch was awelcome break from the busy morning,but we were just getting started: the afternoon saw Noel and ChefJeff in the dining room for Kitchen Corner, with several spectators helping make Pina Colada DessertCups. Then it was on to a lively game of Tic Tac Toss, where we had a large group gathered in a circle toplay and trytheir hand at winningfirstplace! Carol Bauer (Seasons), Kay George and Milda Bautch alltied forfourthplace, Yvonne Sinz came inthirdand Carol Bignell wassecond.Kevin Bauer was the bigwinner infirstplace this week! We capped off the day with supper and then Kathy Luebker and TeresaFedie were here for Monday night Bingo; thanks ladies for the wonderful help!
Tuesday morning after breakfast there was Mass with Father Jojo and Terry Pelzel here for the residents.Always a quiet way to start the day, and we appreciated them stopping by and serving our community!After a bit of visiting, lunch was served and then Willow was here for the most anticipated activity onTuesday: Popcorn Social. She had the popcorn machine going steady and served bowl after bowl ofdeliciously fresh popcorn to residents, who are always eager for the savory snack! A bit more visiting andconversation, then Stacey and Willow performed a Hymn Sing in the dining room, because unfortunatelythe pastor could not make it for afternoon church. Supper was soonserved, and then Willow gathered everyone together for a Tuesday evening of fun games!
Bowling ushers in each Wednesday morning and the crowd was ready and waitingfor one of the most exciting activities of the week! We had quite a group assembled to play and watch the game as KevinBauer and Milda Bautch tied forfourthplace, Janet Robelia tookthirdand Zeona Bechel won second place. Jeff Halverson was our first-place bowling champion this week! A well-deserved lunch was servedand then Fruit Bingo kicked off the afternoon. A big thank you goes out to Lana Ingli for her help withprize passing and clean up! We had so much fun playing bingo and then we all cheered as Joann Hubbardwon the $1 prize this week at Blackout! After the cards and chipswere cleaned up, Noel servedthe PinaColada Dessert Cups, complete with a dollop of whipped cream, at the Mid-Week Social. What a delicious way to end the day!
We began Thursday with a delicious cup of coffee and the local news being read to residents by the oneand only Kathy Shingledecker! She always has alot of fun storiesto share with the group; this time, shebrought a copy of “Good Old Days” magazine. Between the newspaper, magazine and Kathy’s livelystories, the large crowd had a lot to reminisce and talk about, such aswhat fruit was in season and whatpies Kathy was baking! Lunch followed and then we had a few ladies lined up for manicures withWillow. It’s hard to believe we are already in the middle of summer but what’s not hard to believe is howlovely everyone’s nails looked after a fresh coat of polish! An afternoon of pampering and pleasantconversation continued and then supper was ready. Afterwards, Willow assembled folks in the diningroom for an evening of Pokeno fun!
We celebrated the endof the week with a game of Shuffleboard on Friday morning! Noel had such a largegroup in the dining room that there was only time fortworounds, but that was still plenty of time for IvanMason and Larry Thompson to tie forfourth, Judy Thorn to winthirdand Jeff Halverson to nabsecond.Milda Bautch was the bigfirst-place winner of Shuffleboard this week! Lunch refreshed everyone andthen there was little bit of time to rest and relax before the afternoon festivities. Our highly anticipated Birthday Celebration Happy Hour came quickly and Jim Sexton arrived to entertain us with marvelousmusic as we snacked on delicious cupcakes donated by Cindy Mason! A big THANK YOU to Pepin County Senior Center for sponsoring this week’s Happy Hour! Once the party was over, supper wasserved and then we settled into watch “Tooth Fairy” for Movie Night.
