We have decided that most songs are about love, cheating, or death. Or maybe love cheats and cheating death! Regardless, one song sticks in our heads the rest of the day with its catchy little tune and poignant love story: “A Daisy A Day.” It is well worth the “You Tube” if you have never heard it. “I’ll give you a daisy a day, dear. I’ll love you until, the rivers run still, and the four winds we know blow away.” Many of our seniors can relate to the story of this melody and we often sing it at the end of every Monday morning gath- ering. The afternoon ouered a time of getting together to hang out, sit a spell, and munch on fresh popped corn.

A bit of exercise followed with Tic-Tac-Toss. Although Dorothy Pfaue and Goldene Helwig were both able to score three-in-row (TWICE!) they still came in at fourth place when scores were added up. Third place honors went to Frances White followed closely behind with Lorraine Anderson in second place. Top thrower this week was Penny Stauord. After supper, Joyce Berger stopped in and assisted with Bingo.

Tuesday greeted us with sunny skies and a sunny Father Jojo and Terry Pelzel for mass and communion. They are always upbeat and joyful and so very happy to see us each week. A group of a dozen folks stayed to play Name That Tune. Coming in first place this week was Barb Grewe with 16 points. Car – ol Bauer and Penny Stauord followed with 11 points each for second place. Mary Ellen Coulson and Dorothy Pfaue also tied for fourth place with seven correct answers. Crafters cruised into the dining room after lunch to welcome fall with a button pumpkin design. Every picture was diuerent and some even brought their pumpkin to life with a smiling face. After all the buttons were picked up, Pastor Pfaue arrived for our weekly church service.

Our evening ended with a dice game called “Cover the Number” and Nancy Bishop as our big winner.

Wednesday, bowling, and our Plum City Elementa- ry helpers bounced in, first thing in the morning. We were ready to play! Emma Brantner and Kenlee Daleiden were fantastic pin setters and score keepers.

Winners were: Shirley Klinski, Nancy Bishop (fourth place), Ivan Mason (third), Alvin Bergmark (second) and first place champs Janet Robelia and Dorothy Pfaue. Fruit bingo was on the agenda for the afternoon. Harriet Rothe was in fine form call ing numbers loud and clear.

Black out winner this week was Carol Campbell. It was on to our Wednesday wine, cheese and cracker social to end the afternoon.

We were excited to have Julie Burg back with us Thursday morning to read the news! She had been gone a few months with the excitement of building a new house and family events. She read the news about town, told us about her new home, and shared some silly knockknock jokes with us. Lunch followed and soon ladies were lined up for manicures.

No one chose black for Halloween. However, dark reds and blues were the most popular with the upcoming holiday season. The puppies were also popular in shades of brown, white and black!

We see them grow each week and are a little sad when our “favorites” are gone as they have found their own family.

But there are always more to love and snuggle. Supper soon arrived and a few folks stayed up to play Pokeno.

This week’s big winner was Marlys Amdahl.

It’s Friday! Bring on the drums! The music is familiar and all too often, folks begin to sing. But sing the words and drum at the same time?

Well, that’s a little trickier.

The afternoon had the snack makers dishing up snickerdoodle cookies (thank you Annie Heath!), and spicing up apple cider. Some thought it meant “spiking” the cider, but we put the kibosh on that!

With the backdrop up and costumes on the tables, we began shooting – photos that is. It was a “back to school” happy hour and everyone took part. Some were teachers, others were students but all were good sports and got into their character. Supper was served and soon after we settled in for our Friday night movie. This week’s movie was a “Blank Check.”

The leaves are turning and the season is changing. We hope you will take the time to come and visit before the snow flies. We love having company. See you soon!
