“Won’t You Come Home Bill Bailey” was the question of our Monday morning sing-a-long. More specifically, just where was Bill Bailey? Oh, the imaginations of our folks and where he might have been. And did he ever come home? Who knows? But we left the question openended and headed off for lunch. As we all had some time to ourselves, Stacey was busy delivering mail and newspapers and a few church bulletins from Sunday services. Some of you can appreciate the excitement of getting your church’s bulletin in the mail and our people do too! It keeps us connected to previous friends and families. After the popcorn social, we moved furniture, set up the bowling pins, and cheered each other on to throwing strikes for bowling. Top winners this week were: Frances White (fourth place), Alvin Bergmark and Jeanne Carlson (third place), Zeona Bechel (second place), Shirley Klinski and Jean McDonough (first place champs). After a quick supper fruit bingo was next on the agenda. Thank you Joyce and Marie Berger for helping out!
Tuesday brings our pastors into the building, both Catholic and Protestant. We welcomed Father Jojo and Terry Pelzel for Mass and communion. We enjoy our time with them and the message from Father Jojo. There was enough time after mass to have a fun game of Name That Tune. Top winners, and their total number of correct song title guesses were: Fourth place, Aileen Wayne (7); third place, Alice Girard (8); second place, Shirley Klinski (12); first place tie, Mary Ellen Coulson and Penny Stafford (14). In the afternoon, the bakers gathered in the dining room to make blueberry coffee cake, recognizing July as National Blueberry Month. The crumbly topping browned up nicely and will be delicious for the next day’s social time. While the coffee cake baked, we enjoyed our afternoon church service with Pastor Darren from Lund Covenant Church. Lowell and Irene Hoffman walked across the street to provide such nice music for us as well. Supper arrived and the evening was complete with dice games.
The Wednesday workout crew was busy doing “Sit Down Dancing,” while others are entertained simply watching and enjoying the music. After a quick routine, the beach balls come flying out for some kickball and catch, exercising every muscle group. Appetites were well stimulated by this time and everyone enjoyed lunch. As soon as the dishes were done, bingo was set up. Wanda Ebensperger, Linda Delong, and Kath Shingledecker arrived to assist residents and hand out candy rewards. Black out winner this week was Mary Ellen Coulson. We were then able to enjoy the blueberry coffee cake and spend time visiting with each other. When asked how it tasted, Beryl replied that it tasted like “more!”
It was nice to see Lana Ingli out on an already steamy morning. She arrived to read the local news from the Courier Wedge and Pierce County Journal. She also brought some great jokes to share with us. What does a nut say when it sneezes? Cashew! After lunch, the afternoon offered time for the crafters to continue to work on their beach ball wreaths. They are really coming along and look so summery! We are excited to see the finished project as they are beginning to take shape. Brad arrived on the scene with two totes of puppies to snuggle and cuddle. Such tiny critters and such sweet faces. We are sure you will agree with us when you see the photos. With supper soon out of the way, we enjoyed a game of pokeno. Nancy Bishop and Shirley Klinski took top places!
The drummers enjoyed Friday morning in the dining room with our drum collection of all shapes and sizes. We decided to get out the table drum which stands four feet tall and is five feet wide. Up to four drummers can sit around it. Aileen Wayne and Hazel Berger were brave enough to take their turn at playing it and they were fantastic. I only wish we could bottle their enthusiasm! Lunch was served and mail delivered and soon Jessica was busy delivering mail and making room visits. Mid-afternoon, everyone gathered in the dining room to celebrate the birthday of the ice cream cone. It was a treat to have strawberry ice cream in waffle cones while watching the Big Joe Polka Show.
Saturday was saturated with sunshine and time to sit outside. We enjoyed a good game of bingo followed by outdoor bean bags. Top winners were: Beryl Anderson (third place); Alvin Bergmark (second place); Shirley Klinski and Marlys Amdahl (first place). Sunday was the day for many folks receiving visitors, inside and out! It is so nice to enjoy time with our loved ones. A few people played bucket ball outside. Our top winner was Alvin Bergmark in first place, with Beryl Anderson and Sandy Messier in second and third. We hope you will find time to stop in and visit in these coming days. Summer is fleeting and soon our days will become shorter. Let’s enjoy them while we can! See you soon!

Jean McDonough is always amazed at how tiny these pups are at only a week old, when they visit Plum City Care Center.
The puppies always bring smiles to the face of our folks as evidenced by AileenWayne shown here. Brad Richardson bring puppies to visit Plum City Care Center each week.
Willy Lindstrom was tickled to have a puppy placed in his lap at Plum City Care Center.
We love it when the folks from the Season’s Assisted Living join us for activities. Wilma Leslie came down to see the puppies!
