Continued heat this past week has kept most of us indoors. However, some of our more hardy folks have spent a bit of time sitting in the shade and enjoying our beautiful flowers. Last Monday brought many out for a good old fashioned sing-a-long. We enjoy all types of music and variety is the best! After a quick lunch, there is always time for a nap, a little television, and mail delivery. Fresh popcorn is always a hit later in the afternoon and we gather for a snack and a good time of reconnecting after a busy weekend. A little physical exercise is always a good thing to work off that buttery popcorn and soon bowling pins were set up with some friendly competitors waiting for their turn at a strike! Top winners this week were: Lou Seyffer (fourth place). Penny Stafford (third place), Shirley Klinski (second place) and a first place tie between Zeona Bechel and Beryl Anderson. The evening concluded with a fun game of fruit bingo. Shout out to our helpers: Ann Heath, Joyce and Marie Berger, and Kathy Luebker.

Tuesday trickled in but without a cloud in the sky. It was a beautiful sunny morning to worship with Father Joe and Terry Pelzel who bring us mass and communion each week. A few more joined us for Name That Tune just before lunch. We can often get all the lyrics out for a certain song, but coming up with that elusive title takes some real thought. And to yell it out before everyone else makes it even tougher! Top “guessers” last week were: Shirley Klinski (fourth place), Barb Smith (third place), Penny Stafford (second place) and Mary Ellen Coulson (first place). The afternoon offered crafty corner for everyone. We chose from many colors of glass pebbles to arrange for a window sun catcher. It was fun to design, and once they are dry, will catch beautiful sunny rays throughout our rooms. We cleaned up and soon gathered for church with Pastor Lisa from the Arkansaw Methodist Church. We are so sorry to learn she will be moving as we have enjoyed the messages she brings us. The day was complete with dice games in the evening with top winner, Alvin Bergmark.

Exercise kick starts the morning on Wednesday. Movers and shakers shook their way to an appetite before lunch. We also had time for a little kickball action. The afternoon offered Bingo with Lana Ingli available to help deliver quarters and candy rewards. Our black out winners were Lou Seyffer and Shirley Klinski! Our Watermelon Wednesday was welcomed back for the summer with open arms and watering mouths! What a fantastic way to cool off on these hot days.

Thursday morning, everyone gathered in the dining room for coffee and cookies. Julie Burg stopped in with the news from the Pierce County Journal, the Courier-Wedge, and a few jokes of her own. We followed up with some trivia questions. Barb Smith was our top trivialist (is that a word?) with Aileen Wayne close behind. Our afternoon included many ladies lined up for manicures while Brad Richardson kept everyone else busy with his puppies, chinchillas, and a baby goat in the dining room. Pokeno completed the evening with Alvin Bergmark in first place.

Friday morning was greeted with a great group of drummers playing many oldies and all favorites. There are always a few shy ones who prefer to just listen, but we love having an audience as well. Lunch arrived and just before happy hour, Jessica had some of the ladies put together ham and cheese roll-ups. The beverages were popped into a bowl full of ice and we were ready for Happy Hour. The phenomenal Ryan Herman of the Rhythm Playboys was our guest and he never disappoints with his great voice and talent.

Saturday was full of family visitors and time to sit outside. We enjoyed a good game of bingo followed by bucket ball. Top winners were: Frances White (fourth place), Alvin Bergmark (third place), Barb Smith (second place) and Lou Seyffer (first place). Sunday morning many of our folks caught church on television followed by a nice lunch with pie for dessert which is always a treat. We enjoyed getting together for a little social time and reminisced about the hot days of the past. Bean bags was played in the afternoon with the following winners: Beryl Anderson and Barb Smith (fourth place), Penny Stafford (third place), Alvin Bergmark (second place) and Shirly Klinksi (first place). There is beautiful weather coming and we hope you will find time to stop in and visit.
